Create your own charming winter scene glass art on this half-day Christmas workshop for beginners and those with some glass fusing experience. "One of the most enjoyable craft days I have had and a fabulous piece of art too." - Louise In this workshop you'll discover how to create a beautiful, textured piece of fused glass art for Christmas, combining coloured glass, enamel pens, glass frit, crushed coloured glass and stringers. This workshop is suitable for beginners, but If you've already enjoyed learning the basics of glass fusing on one of our beginner's classes, this is a lovely opportunity to make a seasonal piece for Christmas - a table centre piece, for your window ledge with a tealight behind or as a gift! The starting point for projects on this class is a base layer of COE 90 clear fusible glass, 24cm long, already cut for you. You'll cut coloured sections of glass if you wish, or simply use frit, enamel pens, noodles and crushed coloured glass to build up your piece. There will be pre-cut tree shapes to choose from if you prefer not to cut your own. You can create your own design or take inspiration from the examples on show in the studio. Once your piece is ready for the kiln, we'll fire it and let you know when it's ready for collection - approximately 1-2 weeks. Sadly not - due to the nature of the materials our classes are for adults only.
Yes.
With all one-day and longer stained glass classes we include an info pack with details of the tools you've used and suppliers plus reminders of techniques used. This isn't included in half-day classes.
We'll be delighted to help you decided what's needed.
For fusing classes we're happy to advise on tools, materials and kilns on request.
Materials are included in all beginners classes - fusing and stained glass.
Please bring reading glasses if you use them, and sturdy fully enclosed shoes (no sandals).
Aprons, googles and gloves are provided where needed.
Because you will be using lead and solder containing lead on stained glass classes.
Lead is known to pose a higher risk to babies than to adults.
We welcome participating friends or partners.
Sadly there isn't room at most classes for non-participating friends or partners.
Of course!
Fused glass will need to be collected after firing - we will contact you when ready.
This depends on which class you're planning to book.
For stained glass classes - it will be difficult to complete the class if you have severe arthritis or similar.
For fused glass classes - we suggest you choose a class which doesn't involve glass cutting - feel free to contact us to discuss.
If the class you're planning to book is described as 'for beginners' then yes!
Some of our classes are for improvers - these are described as such in the listing.
We have GF and Vegan biscuits in stock normally.
We will bring in non-dairy milk if advised in advance.
Lunches, where included, are provided by the Bell Cafe nearby which caters for intolerances, vegetarians and vegans.
