Fabric Collage and Free-motion Machine Embroidery - FLORALS - Beverley

X

Description

A fantastic new course in which you will learn how to use a sewing machine in free-motion mode, combined with some fun fabric collage. It's a great way to learn free-motion machine embroidery with a relaxed and creative approach. Fabric collage is just as it sounds - cutting up small pieces of fabric and using glue to collage onto fabric. You will learn how to mix and combine fabrics to create a lovely background in preparation for the next stage. Free-motion machine embroidery is created by lowering the feed dogs on a sewing machine and 'drawing' with stitch. You will explore simple floral shapes (templates provided or bring your own floral images to work from - 7.5 inch diameter max) to create delicate and beautiful images. Don't worry if you have not done much/any sewing before, this is a whole new way to stitch and full teaching and support is provided. Holly will guide you through all stage to create a wonderful collage and stitched artwork onto fabric. Great for quilters looking to take a new direction and add more personalised artwork, for artists looking for a new medium or absolute beginners just looking to give it a try. All materials and equipment are provided.  Sewing machines are provided, although you are welcome to bring your own machine (if using your own machine, it must have the function to 'drop the feed dogs' and come with an appropriate darning foot. Please let us know at the time of booking if this is the case). Machines must be in good working order and have a recent PAT test certificate.  Holly will provide you with support and guidance throughout – even if you have never done anything like this before. Holly has been teaching for over 15 years and can help you to create an artwork to be proud of. Session run by Thread and Press CIC, a Community Interest Company. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided. Please bring your own lunch. This is an adult course. No experience required.
