Description

Next promoted dates: Thursday 15th May 2025 Designing and cutting your own stamps to print onto fabric and paper is a particularly pleasing occupation and wholly addictive. It allows you to create handcrafted gifts for family and friends or simply create beautiful tea towels, tote bags and even cushions for your own home. We have run this popular workshop for several years and we are pleased to offer a different take on block printing, with a particular focus on using repeat patterns, rather than more random placing. Join us in the heart of the Meon Valley to explore how to create handprinted fabric products. Simply bring along your design ideas for images, patterns and shapes and learn how to translate these into a design, before cutting a stamp using Essdee Master Cut and printing your design. We will initially create paper and card-based products, such as gift tags and gift wrap, before printing onto tea towels or tote bags. The workshop will be delivered by Alison Butler. Alison has over 25 years of experience as a textile designer and book illustrator. We have a choice of 2 venues on our working farm in The South Downs National Park. The Stables provides a more intimate venue, whilst the Long Barn will suit larger groups. This workshop is suitable for people with a range of creative experiences, wishing to explore printing stamps onto paper and fabric, for a maximum of 10 people. Please bring along: an apron, A5/6 ideas/drawings/images that inspire you, a large newspaper in which to transport your work home and your lunch. Should you have samples of cotton or linen you would like to experiment with printing onto, feel free to bring these along; just wash and iron them ahead of the workshop.
