Description

This workshop is perfect for those who have been on one of our beginner's cushion making workshops, or for those who already have some basic sewing skills and would like to explore the art of cushion making a little further. You will learn: - How to insert a concealed zip - How to add piping - How to add a frill of other trim Adding some piping or a frill takes a cushion to a new level. You can have fun playing with colour contrasts and really improve your sewing skills and knowledge. If you would like to choose your own fabric, please bring half a metre for your cushion, plus half a metre for either piping or a frill. A medium weight cotton or linen are easiest to work with and appropriate for this project. Please avoid velvet or any fabric with a nap. Our studio is in a beautiful converted oast with exposed beams and gentle views across the farmland.  Filled with mouth-watering aromas from The Oast Bakery, where Alison prepares our delicious refreshments, this is the perfect place to escape the pressures of daily life and enjoy some creative time for yourself.  Our aim is to offer the chance to unwind, learn a new skill and meet like minded people whilst enjoying a cuppa and a slice of cake. "This was such a lovely class. As a complete beginner I was made so welcome by our class leader Annabelle. We were given so much help, her patience unending! The pastries, lunch tea and coffee were a fantastic addition to the day. Many thanks for a wonderful day." FRANCES- Cushion making - April 2024

The Oast Studio was started in 2021, as the COVID restrictions came to an end and we realised there was a need and a demand for people to come and spend time crafting together. We paired together our love of food and sewing and The Oast Studio was created! We now offer over 80 different craft and sewing classes from Needle Felting & Basket Weaving to Sewing & Painting.
