Description
In this one day workshop you will learn how to make a professional piped scatter cushion, complete with a zip. Learn the techniques and skills required to construct a scatter cushion to a professional standard including how to accurately measure and cut your fabric, make piping using bias cut strips and piping cord, and how to insert a zip. You will be shown how to master those tricky corners and joins on the sewing machine. You will then have the opportunity to put your new skills into practice and make a further cushion. Alternatively there is the option to try your hand at making a bolster cushion during the afternoon. The class is suitable for all levels of experience however, some basic machine experience is preferable. Class sizes are kept small allowing for plenty of one-to-one support to guide you through these projects. Cushion inners will be provided (18" or 20" square feather pads and/or bolster inner) for your cushions and all other materials, excluding fabric, are included in the price. Fabric is available to purchase from our onsite shop. on the day.
What's included in the price?
All tools are included and you will be introduced to the use of an industrial sewing machine and overlocker. We have our fabric shop on site with hundreds of rolls of upholstery weight fabric on the roll and a wide range of remnants for smaller projects. With the ever growing threat from online retailers we humbly ask all of students to consider sourcing from our beautiful little shop if at all possible. If a specific fabric is required we can order this for you in advance of your class. Refreshments are provided. Bring your own lunch. There are kitchen facilities available for your use at lunchtime, a comfy dining area on site and a streamside picnic area and grassed courtyard for eating should the weather allow. There is an award winning local shop, a bakery and cafes in the nearby village of Hovingham.
