Description

Cost is for one adult & one child. Please do join us for one of our most popular seasonal events - an evening hunting & listening out for numerous ‘creatures of the night’. Our family nature safaris are run by local wildlife expert Jools Hopton who spent many years as a WDC Ranger and for many years has been a widely respected forest school leader and teacher in Bucks primary schools. Jools is also one of only a handful of local 'approved' carers who take in, and care for, injured local bats. There is very little about our local wildlife that Jools doesn't know. This event is suitable for the whole family - all ages...we've had everyone from babes in arms to great grandparents coming along to experience the excitement of evening nature spotting and to learn all about these wild creatures. This session will start at our new Pavilion in Penn Street, from where we will either stroll around boundary of the adjacent cricket field or take a short walk into local woodland - depending on the weather and what wildlife Jools thinks we have our best chance of seeing. Upon arrival, everyone will be invited to take part of a nature-based crafty activity before heading off on a bug hunt around the grounds. Then as the sunlight fades we’ll set off with bat detectors for a twilight walk searching for bats, owls and deer as we listen to the sounds of the night and learn all about our local nocturnal creatures. This is a really wonderful evening, educational but also amazingly inspiring for young (and older) imaginations. The comments and feedback that we always get afterwards are so brilliant. Finally as the evening draws to a close we will regroup back at the Pavilion for a hot drink and delicious home made cake or biscuits! Don’t forget your torch, insect repellent (for any naughty midges), and a waterproof coat or warm jumper to keep you snug once the sun goes down. We will be going ahead with this session whatever the weather!! Please note that for this session children can not be left on their own. We do require that an adult be with them. Please also note that wild beasts and nature can be fickle so there is no absolute guarantee as to what we will see!!!
