"Loved the carving course, Helen was kind and patient as I hacked my way through a nice piece of sandstone, helping me position the chisels and showing me time and again how to hold them - it's a bit like learning to use a pencil for the first time and I won't pretend it's easy but it is really enjoyable and I'm going to carry on in the hope that one day I'll be able to produce something decent."

"I've always admired the art of stone carving but I never thought I'd be able to have a go. Helen is a remarkable tutor. She gives you the confidence that you can carve something; in my case, a Yorkshire Rose. "An excellent course designed to get a taster in stone carving. Very accessible even for complete beginners like myself. Also, you will meet some wonderful people there, both with you on the course as well as members of the carving association. If you think a whole day of carving might be too much for you at first, look them up, they offer even shorter taster sessions."

"Helen presents a brilliant experience - all tools/materials/advice freely given in an old mill workroom. Everyone carved slightly different 'Green Men' from Maltese Limestone, each to his/her own interpretation of the pattern supplied, Lovely stone to work; firm and smooth. Everyone went home with a fine result. Highly recommended for friendliness, good instruction and value for money. Brilliant course."
