"We signed up for course as two craft lovers with no artistic ability, hoping that we'd possibly manage some nice abstracts and enjoy trying something new. Phil was a great teacher and shared basic techniques for working with wax and heat. By the end of the day we had each created six very different pieces. Thanks to skill on Phil's part, and serendipity on ours, the results were great and we had a lot of fun in the process. "

"Bought the introdution to encaustic wax art for my friend for her birthday, great morning out - both complete beginners Phil was very patient and knowledgeable and above all else made us laugh and had a great sense of humour (considering we turned up an hour early!!) "Phil came to our Art club to give a demo Re Encaustic Art. It was so informative and inspiring... 100% enjoyed by all.....I couldn’t wait to go to one of his workshops. .... which I did with my sister -in -law who was a complete art novice. What a brilliant day.... we learnt such a lot and it was so entertaining with Phil. Tea or coffee flowed and time passed all too quickly .... Phil had hardly any time for lunch as we were keen to keep absorbing his knowledge and expertise! We can’t wait to go again although I think Phil might need plenty of warning!What a charming chap with a great sense of humour. We can’t recommend Phil s workshops enough both at his lovely cottage or at an Art club. ...... we re hooked !"

"I recently attended Phil's taster course with some girls from work and it was brilliant fun! You don't even need to be particularly artistic to get stuck in and get some great professional looking results. The course covered some very simple but highly effective techniques and certainly left us wanting to come back and explore the medium further with some different ideas and methods. Pub a few doors up was excellent too and the locals were all lovely & friendly. Can't wait to come back and try it again...The 2 hours just flies by, so go for the longer one if you are able! Thanks again for a brilliant time and for being such a great teacher who explained everything really well and had time to really work one to one with us all..."

"I enrolled onto the two hour taster course for Encaustic Wax Art with Phil on a one to one basis as I had no previous experience of using hot wax. I was absolutely delighted with the course. Phil is an excellent teacher. He gave clear instructions on how to go through each step and was on hand to give extra help and feedback. He made the course fun and really interesting. During the course I was able to learn all about how to use the wax and 5 different techniques. The examples that I worked on I was able to take away with me which will be very useful for when I practice what I have learned. I found using the hot wax wonderfully relaxing and there is so much more to learn. I will definitely return for further tuition once I have got some practice in and I would not hesitate to recommend this course to others. Thank you Phil for a great course."

"My 11 year old son and I had the most amazing day this week with Phil on his Encaustic Wax day. We loved the whole day and came away so inspired and energised from all we had learnt. Phil led us through all the different techniques and then we created lots of our own pictures. It was wonderful to learn something completely new - something that we had never heard of before. We couldn't resist buying a starter pack! We spent most of yesterday making our own creations at home and we're thrilled with our results. We plan to make lots of our pictures into cards and I don't think I will ever need to buy a card again! As my 11 year old said, 'I have now found a new hobby.' Thank you Phil!"
