"I arrived with no experience of knife-making – I departed with a beautifully crafted blade that is as aesthetically appealing as it is practically serviceable. Dave is a modest, yet accomplished craftsman, who is a gifted teacher, a clear communicator and a patient tutor – a person who puts you at ease from the outset and encourages you every step of the way. The course is well organised and ambitious without being daunting. Dave explains each knife-crafting process, demonstrating where necessary, before supervising as you give it a go, offering encouragement and advice. Although the technical skill level required advances through the day, you are building incrementally on previous competences gained so it is challenging but manageable. And the end result is something you can be proud of having created. On this course, you will gain new knowledge and skills, fresh experiences and achievements, in the company of a master practitioner, talented educator and a convivial companion. "

"We really enjoyed this course. David made us feel very at ease. We were late, and I had an allergy that meant I couldn't wear the normal gloves and he took this in his stride and was very kind. He is massively knowledgeable about resin and was able to apply his knowledge to my partner's interest. The session felt friendly throughout whilst also being safe and informative. It can be daunting trying something new, as you inevitably go wrong and David was happy to talk though common errors and how to overcome them and helped us when we went wrong in the session. We really enjoyed it and can't wait to see our blocks."

"If you're looking for a fun and rewarding way to spend a day, I highly recommend this knife-making course. It started with a thorough safety briefing, and they provided all the necessary gear to keep us protected throughout. Our instructor, Dave, has been a knife maker for over eight years, and his passion and knowledge were evident. The course is designed for you to do most of the work, making the finished knife a true accomplishment. However, Dave was always there to offer guidance, build confidence, and lend a hand when needed. My brothers and I had a fantastic day – we truly enjoyed ourselves and haven't stopped talking about it since. I can't stress enough how much value this course offered – it was absolutely worth the money."

The small numbers on the course meant that Dave could give you his full attention, it didn't matter if you were a complete beginner, like me, or had some experience. "Had an absolutely brilliant day at the Forge with Dave. He walked us through every step of the way ensuring we ended up leaving with something I definitely didn't think I could have made! I did the course with my step-dad and a friend, and it was a full days experience from 10-4 ish with about 30 minutes lunch break. I can't recommend this experience highly enough. I have already told a few friends who are keen to book on. I have added some pictures to show what we started with and what we finished with. We all chose a different style of knife and a different wood for the handle too. Thanks again Dave (sorry it took me so long to write this review)."

"Superb morning with Dave, who clearly goes through process of preparation, costs, skills etc so simply that you feel comfortable when the time comes to get hands on. I would recommend the course wholeheartedly and believe you will enjoy the experience, but be mindful that although the process is instant, your results will take a few days to receive due to the processes that need to be followed after the Resin Pour. In all, great value, very informative and as a taster gives the appetite to continue, whether as a hobby or a possible vocation. Thank you"
