"David gave a really comprehensive course whilst still explaining everything in a way anyone can grasp and was really good at guiding you through the process in a friendly and fun way. You gets lots of information on how to continue working with epoxy if you wish and take-home instructions. Would thoroughly recommend this course and it’s not as messy as you think it might be!"

"Amazing. What a day. What a privilege. Under the supervision and enthusiasm as Dave, the passionate tutor, I took a piece of steel and two blocks of wood and made something special. The skills and the methods used are many and the six hour course flew by. Dave just loves what he does and teaches with patience and kindness. "I did the course with my partner recently and it was absolutely fantastic. Dave is a great teacher, very knowledgeable (and patient) and a really nice guy. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into the entire day so it has a perfect balance of coming away with a really high quality knife, but also feeling like you've done the entire process yourself. It is really hands-on, which is great, and you get a lot of choice as to how your knife comes out. I should also mention that Dave was very keen to ensure the resulting knives were of a really high-quality. I couldn't recommend this course enough - great fun and the knives are fantastic quality. Would also recommend checking out Dave's instagram if you're in the market for some super cool knives."

"What a fantastic day! I thought I was booking onto a group class and was very pleasantly surprised to find it was a private session for just our party of two! Dave says he much prefers it this way and I do too as it meant he could be very attentive to us and give us all the help and demos we needed He was incredibly knowledgeable, and gave lots of tips and advice and even prepared an info pack for us to take away so we can do it in future. The course was tailored to what we hoped to get out of it. Dave's a top guy and was really friendly and so easy to get along with. Could not recommend the course more!"

As other reviews also say, every step of the process is explained in detail which really helped my confidence when making the knife. "I was fortunate enough to have one to one tuition with the skilled and enthusiastic Dave while I constructed a chef's knife with beautiful wooden scales, (handle). This is a great course and every operation takes you closer to the finished product. It was very satisfying to see the transformation of a flat piece of steel and two pieces of wood to the gleaming finished article. Highly recommend."

"There were to be 2 attendees for the knife making course with Dave (as well as 3 “axe’ makers with Andy!) however the other attendee didn’t tip up - this only enhanced the experience as it was 1 to 1 ? for me. You choose the style of knife and the wood for the handle and then you are put straight to work firstly grinding the shape of your knife from a piece of steel with Dave guiding you all the way - you get shown what has to be done and then you are left to do it - you’re told when in doubt ask which I did and Dave explains how best to achieve the best result - the course is not slow but you don’t feel pushed, listen to the advice and you’ll be fine and at the end of the course you’ll have a very sharp knife (cuts through paper like a warm knife through butter). Heed the advice in previous posts - if it’s cold wrap up ‘cos it’s very cold in the forge, take food and drink. Would I recommend the course - a resounding yes !"

"What a fun and unique creative experience I had yesterday! To make something as practical as a beautiful, razor sharp, chef's knife combined with crafting the hardwood handle made for a unique and very enjoyable experience. I have no hesitation in recommending the Kitchen Knife Course course to anyone who is keen to learn a new skill. If you plan to attend in winter I recommend that you wear warm clothes and take a hot drink, food and drinking water. This is a non stop, full on, fascinating day and the knife you produce with Dave's expert guidance will have pride of place in your kitchen."

"What a fantastic day I had making chefs knives . I was under the excellent supervision of Dave , who explained everything fully on what to do and more importantly what not to do which helped put me at ease. I can fully recommend this as something to try as you walk away at the end with an amazing product , which you made , it doesn’t come better than that. My only comment would be that this course needs to state what to bring in the way of drinks / food as non are provided and it would have helped to know this in advance , all I was told that there was no drinking water on site . But as I said this didn’t dampen my experience in any way at all . Thanks again Dave for a great day"
