Gerry discovered and fell in love with printmaking after visiting an exhibition of relief prints in 2012. She works solely in linocut enjoying the mindfullness of mark-making and rigorous process of printmaking, most often using the reduction technique to produce multi-layered multi-coloured prints. Her work typically depicts her fondness for British wildlife; birds, flowers, countryside and above all, colour.
She is a member of Oxford Art Society. Gerry teaches Linocut workshops at her home studio in South Oxfordshire. She also sells online in the UK and internationally.
Her work has featured in local and national magazines. Her linocut print “Clarinet: lines and spaces” was exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2024.
"We had the most amazing all day workshop experience with Gerry!
Gerry is a fantastic teacher and catered to our individual art approaches. We had so much fun and plenty of time to explore lots of the different options of cutting and printing.
We have done a few art workshops in the past and this was by far the best one we ever attended.
Thank you so much, Gerry, for the amazing day! "

"I had a brilliant day making linocut prints with Gerry Coles! I’m so pleased with the results of my efforts! It was such an enjoyable afternoon learning to design, cut and print greetings cards and prints using a range of good quality tools, lino, ink and paper. Gerry was a wonderful teacher as well as a perfect host, supplying tea, coffee, mince pies and chocolates to fuel our efforts. The work space was very spacious, well lit and comfortable and full of inspirational prints and objects. Gerry was a great instructor, very helpful and allowed plenty of time to finish up printing. I feel like the experience was superb value for money. "

"I had the most wonderful time at Gerry's Introduction to Linocut one day workshop, and learned so much in a very relaxing and friendly atmosphere. The setting of the workshop is lovely, in beautiful Oxfordshire countryside, in a fabulous space dedicated entirely to Gerry's linocut/printing work. She made our class of 5 immediately very welcome; everything was so well thought through and lovingly prepared for our day to go smoothly. We got lots of encouragement, high quality teaching (especially to a total beginner like myself) and the freedom to try out and do what we'd like to, while Gerry also made sure that all of us left with some beautiful prints. I left feeling very happy, and think I've found a new hobby. Thank you, Gerry!"

"Gerry was a great teacher - very encouraging and with helpful hints when needed. The class was small (4) which was brilliant as she was able to give us all one to one attention when required. The setting of the workshop is idyllic and added to the overall relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere of the day. Great value for money."
Gerry Coles Prints responded:
