She works solely in linocut enjoying the mindfullness of mark-making and rigorous process of printmaking, most often using the reduction technique to produce multi-layered multi-coloured prints. Her work typically depicts her fondness for British wildlife; birds, flowers, countryside and above all, colour. She is a member of Oxford Art Society. Gerry teaches Linocut workshops at her home studio in South Oxfordshire. She also sells online in the UK and internationally. Her work has featured in local and national magazines. Her linocut print “Clarinet: lines and spaces” was exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2024.

Ruth A reviewed: Oxfordshire Introduction to Linocut one day workshop

"I had such a great day printmaking with Gerry in her lovely studio. She struck just the right balance of instruction and leaving us be to try it out for ourselves (always on hand when needed). I really appreciated hearing her story of how she became a printmaker and seeing the wonderful work she produces, and picked up lots of tips for setting up my own studio at home over time. The preparatory instructions she provided about creating an image to bring and work from were really clear and helpful, as was the array of books and examples around the studio for our reference. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to start out or learn more about lino printing - worth every Penny and really good value too. "

Sam reviewed: Linocut Christmas Cards 2024: Afternoon Workshop

"I had a brilliant day making linocut prints with Gerry Coles! I’m so pleased with the results of my efforts! It was such an enjoyable afternoon learning to design, cut and print greetings cards and prints using a range of good quality tools, lino, ink and paper. Gerry was a wonderful teacher as well as a perfect host, supplying tea, coffee, mince pies and chocolates to fuel our efforts. The work space was very spacious, well lit and comfortable and full of inspirational prints and objects. Gerry was a great instructor, very helpful and allowed plenty of time to finish up printing. I feel like the experience was superb value for money. "

Gerry Coles Prints responded:

"Thank you Sam for taking the trouble to leave such a kind and thoughtful review. It was lovely to meet you and to see the amazing prints you produced. Best wishes for Christmas and for 2025 Gerry"
