Sam reviewed: Linocut Christmas Cards 2024: Afternoon Workshop

"I had a brilliant day making linocut prints with Gerry Coles! I’m so pleased with the results of my efforts! It was such an enjoyable afternoon learning to design, cut and print greetings cards and prints using a range of good quality tools, lino, ink and paper. Gerry was a wonderful teacher as well as a perfect host, supplying tea, coffee, mince pies and chocolates to fuel our efforts. The work space was very spacious, well lit and comfortable and full of inspirational prints and objects. Gerry was a great instructor, very helpful and allowed plenty of time to finish up printing. I feel like the experience was superb value for money. "

"I had the most wonderful time at Gerry's Introduction to Linocut one day workshop, and learned so much in a very relaxing and friendly atmosphere. The setting of the workshop is lovely, in beautiful Oxfordshire countryside, in a fabulous space dedicated entirely to Gerry's linocut/printing work. She made our class of 5 immediately very welcome; everything was so well thought through and lovingly prepared for our day to go smoothly. We got lots of encouragement, high quality teaching (especially to a total beginner like myself) and the freedom to try out and do what we'd like to, while Gerry also made sure that all of us left with some beautiful prints. I left feeling very happy, and think I've found a new hobby. Thank you, Gerry!"

"Gerry was a great teacher - very encouraging and with helpful hints when needed. The class was small (4) which was brilliant as she was able to give us all one to one attention when required. The setting of the workshop is idyllic and added to the overall relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere of the day. Great value for money."

Gerry is a great tutor, very knowledgeable and guiding us through the day at a good pace & was helpful with the creative side for the non-creative! I'd really recommend doing a course with Gerry"

"Amazing workshop. Relaxing, well explained, bright ,inspiring and lovely studio. Very calm and knowledgeable tutor who let us explore, then gave her advice. All aims met, and we came away with plenty of prints using various types of paper and any colour ink we wanted….various tries."

"Thoroughly enjoyed this course! It was well planned with lots of useful information (both in advance of the course and during) and examples to help us understand the materials, equipment and process but also plenty of opportunities to work at our own pace and level, with as much support as we wanted. Gerry was very accommodating, a great tutor and the studio was beautifully equipped. I had a fun, relaxing afternoon and managed to achieve much more than I had expected, I can’t wait to try Lino printing again!"
