Rebecca Harvey-Browne, graduated from UCA Farnham in Surrey with a First Class Honours degree in Woven Textiles. Rebecca was selected as 1 of 24 graduates across the U.K. for Texprint, allowing her to promote her work in Paris. After selling designs to Italian Fashion House 'Etro', she was inspired to pursue a career in Textiles.
Rebecca opened up her home studio to allow others to experience this craft first-hand and to make their very own piece of fabric.
"I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon at the weaving workshop and would recommend it to any complete beginner who thinks they might fancy a go at weaving.
One thing to note is that setting up the loom is obviously a big part of weaving (no loom, no weave!) but it's also time- consuming - even for an expert. For beginners, particularly if there are several students, it would be impossible to both teach the setup and do any actual weaving. I came away with a piece of fabric that I'd woven. I'd much prefer that than to have come away having set up a loom! However, Rebecca gives a very clear account of what's involved.
No criticisms of the course at all."
"Had a very enjoyable and relaxing morning in Rebecca’s lovely studio learning the basics of weaving on a 8 shaft table loom. Rebecca was very patient, encouraging and knowledgeable, and although the course was only 3 hours long we seemed to cover a lot of ground, learning about the whole process and weaving a sample piece in a variety of weave structures. Nice coffee and biscuits too! I would highly recommend this course."
"I am a convert! Having felt unsure about my ability to do any weaving at all, Rebecca was encouraging, super helpful and very informative - and I am really happy with my work. I loved it."
