Liz reviewed: Design and Weave a beautiful alpaca scarf at Burnt Fen Alpacas

"This course was incredible! Annie is the perfect instructor. We could go at our own pace, stopping for tea, biscuits and a bit of alpaca feeding before going back to our looms. I came away with a new-found love of textiles, alpaca wool and a beautiful hand-woven scarf, and I'll be going back to learn how to spin next year"

Claire reviewed: Design and Weave a beautiful alpaca scarf at Burnt Fen Alpacas

"I've just had a thoroughly relaxing two days with Annie and her alpacas. It was a real joy to understand the process of weaving a scarf and listening to Annie about the alpacas, how their fleece is treated to turn it into yearn and dyed using plants from Annie's garden. The yurt was warm and cosy and the company great. I would highly recommend this course. :-) "

Lynn and Jeff reviewed: Learn to spin at Burnt Fen Alpacas

"I was bought the Alpaca spinning experience as a Birthday gift and had no idea what to expect. On arrival we were greeted by the sight of numerous beautiful Alpacas in the fields. Lots of different colours and sizes. Not only did they look so cute (still had their coats on), but also very inquisitive so they came to welcome us. Annie was such a good host and showed us round telling us their names as we met them. We started off in the most warm and cosy yurt. Not knowing anything about how to spin Annie explained and demonstrated techniques with lots of patience and fun and the morning flew by. Lunch in the garden was delicious surrounded by the alpacas on the upper garden was idyllic. During the afternoon session we carried on practicing with different wools, having the cheeky alpaca coming to the open door to give us the once over. We found the whole day so much fun and relaxing and so I would recommend this to anyone who loves alpacas. "

Burnt Fen Alpacas responded:

"Hi Lynn and Jeff, thank you for your lovely review! It was great to meet you both and I really enjoyed your sense of fun and enthusiasm for whatever came through the door - alpacas included! Hopefully see you both again sometime. Annie"

"Fantastic event! Annie is a brilliant teacher, friendly, attentive and super supportive. At least 2 out of the 4 on the course have been bitten by the weaving bug, me included! The surroundings are glorious and the various critters highly endearing. Food was delicious and Kurt the Yurt a very warm, welcoming and calming place to learn. Couldn’t recommend this more highly. Will be booking my slot on the spinning version next ??"

Burnt Fen Alpacas responded:

"Hi Nicky, ( although I should really say Sasha as I'm an idiot and mixed up the reviews! ?‍♀️? told you both I was useless with computers!) Anyway, that aside, thank you, thank you for the lovey review and very much looking forward to seeing you spinning next year! Annie ☺️"

Tracy Shepard reviewed: Creative Retreat

"I went on this alpaca retreat in September 2019 and it was an amazing experience. I had signed up mainly for the yoga (which was fantastic) but I loved every part of the weekend from the tree walk to the art, from the alpacas to the weaving. The house and the surrounding area are beautiful and the food over the weekend was incredible. It was a very thoughtfully designed programme of events that left me feeling happily tired and thoroughly relaxed. I would strongly recommend this retreat; it has left me with a host of happy memories."

Glynis Hillier reviewed: Burnt Fen Alpacas - Amazing Alpacas Spinning and Weaving Workshop

"Thanks to Annie and Julia for an excellent and enjoyable course. The Alpacas are such characters and, despite the fact that the spinning was a challenge, I came away with a beautiful book cover! The setting for the first day at Burnt Fen was lovely, working in the yurt, delicious lunch in the open air and the chance to feed carrots to the alpacas. The second day, in the studio, was relaxed and productive with more lovely food to keep us going. The whole experience was great and has given me the taste for doing some more. If you get the chance try walking with the alpacas too, you won't regret it!"

Anita Mitchell reviewed: Burnt Fen Alpacas - Amazing Alpacas Spinning and Weaving Workshop

"Read what Bex said, because I'm the friend that went with her. She's not wrong and says it all right there, so much better than I can. Excellent stuff, and so much fun. I even got to feed carrots to some of the girls by hand -they are super gentle."

Burnt Fen Alpacas responded:

"Hi Anita. Thank you! I’ve only just realised I can respond to the comments ? so please say a big thanks to Bex as well ☺️ Annie"

Bex Silvester reviewed: Burnt Fen Alpacas - Amazing Alpacas Spinning and Weaving Workshop

"I cannot recommend this course highly enough! My friend and I attended, completely new to both spinning and weaving. We had the best time. The location on the first day is just lovely...relaxed, beautiful and really up close and personal with the stunning alpacas. The second day is spent in central Norwich in a wonderfully calming and very happy studio. Annie and Julia are kind, patient, and fun hosts with excellent knowledge and really good teaching skills. The course takes you from spinning your own alpaca wool (you will know exactly which darling one loaned you the fleece ;)) to making your very own woven book cover. The meals provided were delicious too. Go...don't hesitate. ;)"

Serena Woodcock reviewed: Burnt Fen Alpacas - Amazing Alpacas Spinning and Weaving Workshop

"I'd really recommend the spinning/weaving workshop with Julia and Annie. They both have their own tips and experience to help you learn both skills. I liked the combination of yurt for spinning and studio for weaving, in addition to the great company and lovely lunches but also last but not least the alpacas! What lovely creatures! Just a wide range of experience in two days! If you fancy trying out the spinning and weaving, they are great teachers and you have something to take home at the end. I will be definitely going back to have afternoon tea and cake with alpacas and buy some more wool for weaving."

mandy walden reviewed: Burnt Fen Alpacas - Amazing Alpacas Spinning and Weaving Workshop

"I attended one of these wonderful 2-day workshops earlier this year. It was a fab contrast between day 1 in a cosy, fairy light bedecked yurt where Annie and Julia showed great patience in helping me to spin my first ever skein of beautiful soft alpaca yarn, and day 2 in Julia's light and airy studio I the city where I learned to weave. What did I love? The gorgeous Burnt Fen alpacas, the excellent lunches, the skilled tutoring, the great company, the lovely settings, my finished product, having the time and space to enjoy two days of creativity and learning a new skill. What didn't I love? Nothing, except having to go back to the day job afterwards. I enjoyed it so much my husband and I are going back to Burnt Fen for another spinning session later this year!"
