"I enjoyed the quilt in a day course. The one on one course is best way for beginner to learn how to quilt and learn basic patterns. Amanda was very patient and helped me through the whole process. She really took care of me throughout … from picking me up from the station to dropping me back! And pampering me with coffee tea and biscuits. "I had a great day at Amanda's home. As a beginner, I was really excited to explore different rulers, rotary knives, and wadding materials. I tried several patterns and made a wonderful quilt that my family loves very much. Amanda is a very patient teacher. It was very thoughtful of her to know my favorite color and prepare fabrics for me. As a researcher working on a book about quilt in contemporary African American women's literature, the discussions with Amanda during our tea breaks were also very helpful. I would absolutely recommend Amanda's course."

"I did this course 10 days ago and thought I had posted a review the same day I was so impressed! but it hasn't appeared.. Amanda Jane is a very patient and helpful teacher. I appreciated her skill in helping me and imparting her knowledge in a gentle and informative way. And I was amazed we achieved so much in one day - I didn't think I would manage it but I did. It made me determined to have a sewing room when we move if we can manage it! "

"This was a fantastic 1 day course packing so much teaching in on everything you need to know to start quilting. A 5-star course and lovely 1-to-1 learning experience. Amanda is an excellent teacher. She explained everything clearly, and patiently as well as providing lots of top tips. I particularly liked her focus on how to be as sustainable as possible - for example explaining the best sustainable wadding to use. Immediately after the course, Amanda followed up with worksheets on what we had covered, and different links to relevant sites as well as a link to her newsletter/blog where she provides tutorials and other practical advice. I highly recommend Amanda and this course - and I am absolutely thrilled with the quilt sampler I made. "

"It was good that the course is made up of a number of short video clips, making it easy to return to different points of the process when I had got to that point and being able to repeat them for greater understanding. Instructions were clear and well illustrated. I have now completed my quilt! It doesn't bear close inspection, as I didn't line up all my squares correctly and I found it difficult doing the corners on the binding, but it looks good and I wouldn't have been able to do it without this course."

"Excellent, well thought out course and Amanda Jane is a great teacher who explains things patiently and well. With this 1-2-1 course I was able to learn and practice hands on all the steps to make a small quilt : cutting, sewing a few different patch styles, and then joining the patches, creating the layers, basting, quilting, adding borders and binding. I came away with a finished miniature quilt, and the skills needed to make a full size quilt. The individual tuition helped me learn all this in 1 day so was really time efficient and I think good value vs a 2-3 day beginner course to cover the same skills in a group. I would definitely recommend this course and Amanda Jane as a teacher. "

"Amanda is a brilliant teacher, highly knowledgeable and patient. We covered all aspects of using a sewing machine, including some basic sewing techniques which has helped my confidence immensely. I was able to bring my own machine with me and we spent some time working on that so I would be familiar with it as well as on her own. She was highly flexible with dates and times, and offers very nice biscuits! Recommend to anyone who wants to start sewing but is daunted by the look of their machine! "
