Jonatha reviewed: Blacksmithing for beginners - one day taster

"Received the voucher as a present and had a wonderful day playing with metal and learning a lot. Aaron explained the techniques simply and made sure there was lots of hands on work within minutes of starting which was great. He also went on to more advanced stuff and I left with plenty of items as a memento of a fantastic experience. I still can't believe the items I made with Aaron's help as blacksmithing always seemed such a black art...it has inspired me to do some more, so I'll be thinking of some designs now! Strongly recommended for anyone with an interest in metalworking, or even for that someone who seems to have everything as they will be delighted with the whole experience. Thanks again!"

Catherine Armitage reviewed: Basket making in Norfolk

"My husband and i thoroughly enjoyed our day of basket making with Julie King. Julie was a very patient and encouraging tutor, and explained everything clearly. We were pleased to leave with a very impressive looking basket at the end of just one day. I would highly recommend a workshop with Julie (and the home made cake she provided was delicious and kept our energy up), Catherine Armitage"

Caroline Drewett reviewed: Firebird Forge Blacksmithing School

"I thoroughly enjoyed my tuition with Mort in February. From being near enough a complete novice over the three days I made a variety of artistic and functional pieces and could see my skills improve greatly and grew in confidence with the use of the tools and forge. The tuition was both relaxed, enjoyable and informative enabling me to create decorative pieces trying new skills through to tools for my wood burner. Thoroughly recommended."

Elizabeth Carew reviewed: Handspinning workshop

"I thoroughly enjoyed this day. Walked in a novice and left with lots of new found skills, extremely good value for money, great food for lunch, lovely coffee on arrival, we bought another one at lunchtime to go with the free lunch, frothy milky coffee for £1.20, lovely! And biscuits!! Diane is a great teacher imparting lots of information and help. The room is lovely and warm with toilets and cafe close by. Not only did I end up with my own yarn, I was introduced to the drop spin, a forked braiding tool, and to see different spinning wheels and examples of yarn, tools and attachments. I was independently spinning after a few mins."

Jacqui reviewed: Wood carving and Love Spoons

"Tried my hand at wood carving this weekend for the first time. Organised everything last minute, but Sharon was wonderful in helping me join the course and making me feel so welcome and supported. Was a fantastic weekend - amazed that Sharon helped me to do so much in such a short time, but made it also fun and stress-free. Was just the tonic I needed, not to mention coming away with an original Christmas present for the box. Thank you Sharon for your generosity of person and of spirit!"

Sarah Goff reviewed: Kiln Formed Glass in Cornwall

"I wanted a workshop as a present for my mum's birthday and stumbled on Fi and I'm very glad I did. We had a lovely time experimenting with all the wonderful coloured and textured glass. I highly recommend it, we had such a fun, relaxed and creative day and have some beautiful glass pieces to to be proud of. (I'm not sure I'll ever be able to top that birthday present for my mum!)"

Jackie Grimble reviewed: Blacksmith Experience Day - North Norfolk

"Three friends & I went on one of James' courses. We had a fabulous day and we all thoroughly enjoyed it, so much so we are all booking up to go again. James and Arthur were so very patient. During our day we all made a poker and some hooks, amidst laughter and enjoyment. On our next visit we are taking another friend who was really impressed with what we made. The forge itself is creatively inspiring and the skills that you learn alongside the guidance given from the tutors allow for innovative creations to 'emerge from the ashes'. I would thoroughly recommend this course to anyone, as not only is it a great day out, but you can learn some new skills along the way. A big thanks to James and Arthur."

"Another weekend with Sha at Lodge Hill has resulted in some amazing carving from new attendees to more experienced attendees. Sha resided over the course with her usual aplomb! We had wonderful conversation, lots of fun and, of course, superb carving tuition. Many thanks Sha. See you in May for the next course. Xx"

Jane Hilliard reviewed: Alex Allpress Pottery School: Learn to throw on the potter's wheel in Mid Wales

"I booked a morning session for my daughters 10th birthday party. Everyone really enjoyed themselves. Alex was very helpful with a very calm attitude. All the children had plenty to do and all made lots of things to take home(because this was during December the children made their family things for Christmas) Would defiantly recommend this, it was a different way of celebrating my daughters birthday and for them all to have something to show for it. Thank you Alex and Blue."

richard walmsley reviewed: Five day woodwork course - wood

"I wholeheartedly recommend attending this course. For those who have always hankered to learn or brush up their school carpentry skills, and make something worthwhile, then this is the course. Richard and Mark were always helpful, instructive, patient, and encouraging. They made it a fun and rewarding experience. The lunchtime lectures are extremely informative and along with the fabulous setting in the lake district it all adds up to a tremendous experience and value for money."

Chris Newberry reviewed: Two Day Stained Glass Course with Christian Ryan

"An excellent course in a pleasant atmosphere. The low number of attendees meant there was plenty of opportunity to discuss ideas and address issues with the processes involved. Gives you a whole new outlook on all those doors and windows you used to just walk past, it takes ages to walk in to town now. I'm on the lookout for a cathedral in need of a few alterations."

"My husband and I came on a one day course and we both learned a lot from the day. Aaron is an excellent teacher, explaining the principles of blacksmithing, each item that we made enabled us to progress to more complex pieces, building upon the skills as the day progressed. We came home proud with what we made."

michelle sinclair reviewed: Five day woodwork course - tools

"The only thing in the workshop that was familiar to me on arrival was a rubber! My resolution for the year was "to make things". As a complete novice I had no idea what to expect and was absolutely thrilled with my stepping stool at the end of the week. Richard and Mark, plus Ash, were welcoming and made everything seem possible. I would recommend anyone to have a go at this! Do try to find time to enjoy some of the lovely Lakes and Penrith as part of your trip."
