Myra McKay reviewed: Beginner's Spinning in Newcastle

"Saw Cathy's courses advertised, and was intrigued as spinning was something I had never thought of trying. I was taught in a small group, and was encouraged by Cathy's enthusiasm and patience. I had a successful lesson and learnt to spin. At my request Cathy then went out of her way to help me find a wheel of my own. I am now happy to recommend Cathy's courses to anyone who is interested in learning to spin."

"What a fantastic day. As a complete novice I found the explanations and clear instructions easy to follow and I was able to produce not one but two skeins of wool under the patience and encouragement of Cathy. The day was over all too soon. A sure sign that it was a wonderful experience. Thanks Cathy and Mum."

Pete & Berni reviewed: Blacksmithing for beginners - one day taster

"Echoing other reviews we had a fantastic time with Aaron. We weren't expecting to get hands on so soon, but within minutes of been greeted we were using the blacksmith's tools and forge to produce our first item. Aaron has a wealth of knowledge and experience and puts this to good use to allow you to learn the trade and helps if you need it. Apart from short breaks for tea & lunch this was a really good day's experience and whilst tired from what we'd learnt and the physical nature of blacksmithing left us both wanting to come back and do more. This is a really good value day out!"

Sandra Willuams reviewed: Enamelling on copper

"I booked this day as a 7th anniversary treat for my husband and brought along our 16 year old daughter. We had a fantastic day with Dilys and it was wonderful to see Dad and daughter getting such a thrill from their creations. The day was paced perfectly for us as complete novices and we were totally delighted with our efforts. I can't recommend this highly enough for anyone wanting to try a new skill and have a fun day out doing something different. Thanks again Dilys."

Mick Lumley reviewed: Carve a Rocking Horse Head Course

"I recently attended this course having never done any carving before. The pace of the course was just right and Tony's patient relaxed style allowed me to produce a good standard of rocking horse head. It also inspired me to continue carving and I am well on the way to producing a medium sized rocking horse for my granddaughter. Good value for money with a friendly group and excellent support from all the staff at the rocking horse shop in Fangfoss. I can recommend this course to novice carvers."

Heather Moon reviewed: Introduction to Green Wood Furniture Making - 2 Day Course in South Devon

"I absolutely loved this course! With absolutely no skills or experience with any woodwork or tools, there is no one more shocked than me to find I have a beautiful table that fits perfectly in my living room! There is a great balance between supportive guidance, and encouragement to take ownership and work your own project. Therefore people with more background than I had also seemed fulfilled and challenged to the right degree. In addition, it seemed like we all supported each other, which made for a very social experience. A really enjoyable weekend indeed - big thanks to Peter and Cath."

Paul Bloxham reviewed: Introduction to Green Wood Furniture Making - 2 Day Course in South Devon

"I attended Peters two day introduction course last weekend and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone with an interest in wood. Peter has a relaxed teaching style which worked tremendously well with a group of inexperienced green woodworkers and enabled all of the participants to leave having made something to be be proud of. The two days were very hands on with a good group dynamic and on top of it all in a lovely part of the world."

Gwyn Follett reviewed: Wood turning tuition, New Forest, Hampshire (1 day) (2 people)

"We spent a very enjoyable day with Graham. Very useful "refresher" course and good hospitality- he made us very welcome. Graham sharpened our tools and gave us good advice on jigs etc. We came away with two good cedar bowls and now keen to get wood turning again after a two year gap. Graham is very helpful and approachable and has loads of very useful information. We would recommend his courses to beginners and for refreshers. Allan & Gwyn Follett"

Lorna Thomas reviewed: Introduction to Green Wood Furniture Making - 2 Day Course in South Devon

"I've just been on the weekend introduction to green wood furniture and have come away with a small table that I am incredibly proud to say I made myself! It was a busy, but highly creative weekend and there is something genuinely relaxing about working with wood. There was a nice social dynamic too with the other people on the course. Most highly recommended. I am very tempted to go back for more."

"Absaloutly fantastic course, an all round great day that provides a practical real world introduction to blacksmithing principles and techniques. The instructor Colin is a great guy who has a wealth of blacksmithing experience to share with you. The setup is bob on all the tools and materials you'll need. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and would recommend it to others 5 stars !"

Wendy Van Dort reviewed: Advanced throwing masterclass with David Frith

"I thoroughly enjoyed being on the course with David Frith. I have been studying ceramics for over 25 years and I was still learning more new techniques. David is a fountain of knowledge and is very generous with it and has an ability to make everything appear easy and achievable. We made platters, jugs, bowls, tea bowls, faceted decoration. He demonstrated different decorating techniques which were brilliant. All in all a very inspiring tutor. The staff at Potclays were extremely helpful and pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble. James Otter went out of his way to show us around the factory which was most interesting and informative. James does his utmost to explain things in detail. I bought a kiln from them last year and James spent a lot of time explaining the workings of it and made a video for me to refer to on my telephone. The lunches were plentiful and varied, most welcome after a morning of throwing..... Best wishes Wendy Van Dort"

laila packer reviewed: Anticlastic raising and basic foldforming. Flowers and leaves, jewellery course Leeds, West Yorkshire

"Teresa was an excellent tutor. She was very knowledgeable and so helpful. I learnt so much more than I thought possible in such a short time. With her excellent demonstrations and help, I was able to produce the most fantastic copper work - even good enough for Christmas presents! I am really looking forward to learning more on my next course with Teresa. I would thoroughly recommend this course."

Ollie Chappell reviewed: Advanced throwing masterclass with David Frith

"I really enjoyed this course. As a self taught thrower I really got a lot out of the two days that is going to be helpful and hopefully now progress my throwing skills. David is a very talented, knowledgeable Potter. We threw plates, bowls, vases, jugs, lids, and we also played with various decorating methods. My only disappointment is not spending some time on two piece throwing. I would definitely recommend this course."
