"Can't recommend this shop enough! We are so lucky to have it here along with Myra (who is the font of all knowledge by the way).... Knitwise is definitely my new favourite shop !! Just finished the beginners crochet class .. It was brilliant. I looked forward to every week to learn something new. I was an absolute beginner and now I can crochet !! Will miss it but intend to go on the crochet days in the new year."

Francesca reviewed: Beginners crochet with Myra McKay

"I couldn't rate Myra and her courses/workshops highly enough, she really is an expert in all things yarny! and has the patience of a saint. I have learnt all my crochet from her and have learnt other techniques such as broom stick crochet and the brain frying interlocking. If you want to learn crochet (or anything else she is offering) you really could want for a better teacher/course."

Ami Lowman reviewed: Introduction to Frame Loom Weaving

"I had a really enjoyable day learning the art of weaving with Alice. Based at Make in Fratton we had a cosy set up and a small group meant that help was there when you needed it! Alice is incredibly knowledgeable and patient with everyone especially as everyone was working on different designs! Left feeling utterly inspired, my new purchased loom in hand I've started my second weave already! Thank you Alice!"

Laure reviewed: Silver jewellery Pendant making workshop

"I wanted to create something for my 35th birthday. I had a broken ring, and I loved the stone. Sarah was the perfect petson to help me out! I had an amazing time, learned so much, laughed, shared!!! Perfect birthday present! Her studio is a gem, feel good to step out of the real world for few hours. Now, I have a beautiful ring, a lot of compliment about it and I made it! Meeting Sarah was great, and I can't recommend her enough. She took some pictures of me during the day, which I didn't expect, and they are fabulous! Thank you, thank you thank you Sarah! Ps: I have just realised it is me on the picture below! Lol ;-)"

Alison Ross reviewed: Beginners Weaving with the Rigid Heddle Loom - at All in a Spin

"After a rather stressful week, a day spent weaving in Dunja's beautiful farmhouse learning to use a rigid heddle loom was a tonic. Dunja is a very calm and thoughtful tutor. Although I had some problems with the weave pattern I picked, she sorted them out and I learnt from the mistake. I would recommend this workshop."

Alison reviewed: Glass fusing for beginners - one day course

"A great session. I enjoyed it so much that I booked in for two, back to back. Students were given a range of projects to choose from which focused on developing glass fusing skills but had the option to 'freestyle' and make something different. Debbie was an excellent teacher and knows just how to make a workshop fun, engaging and creative! I will definitely go back again."

Natalia reviewed: Glass fusing for beginners - one day course

"My mum and I booked onto this session as a Christmas fun day out and had an absolute blast. Debbie covered all of the important skills but leaves enough flexibility for everyone to pursue their own projects if they wish. There was a brilliant range of tools and glass supplies, so plenty to experiment with! Most importantly, Debbie was lovely, completely encouraging, supportive and inspiring. We are already planning when to go back for another session!"

Jonathan and Laura reviewed: Pottery throwing course in the South Downs National Park (one day - one-to-one)

"I booked a two hour session for me and my partner for her birthday as she had always been keen to try pottery on a wheel. Rowena was really friendly and very knowledgeable and very accomodating especially as I forgot to tell her my partner was 24 weeks pregnant - oops! My partner made a far better pot on the wheel in one try (it took me two attempts to make a good one) and then as it was very strenuous for her she rolled out a lovely oven dish while I took photos of her crafting. we had a lovely time, and six weeks later (exactly as Rowena had said) I collected the finished articles which we were really impressed with! Full marks to Rowena for a brilliant experience."

Becky Peek reviewed: Wedding/Civil Partnership Ring making workshop - Sterling Silver

"What a fantastic start to the build up to our wedding!! The individuality of the rings produced and their quality was more than we could of wished for. Sarah made us feel more like friends than clients and the whole experience was a joy from the satisfying feel of the hammer moulding the gold into a sign of our love, to the scrumptious lunch that was served as we rested from our mornings endeavours. Overall an experience I would say that is as priceless as the memories I remember every time I look at my ring."

Jim reviewed: Beginners 10 week woodworking course NO LONGER RUNNING

"Just completed the 10 week evening beginners course. Ciara is an excellent teacher and the course was very enjoyable. I really learned a lot in a very friendly and easy going atmosphere. The course overun the allocated time but Ciaran was happy to accommodate the group with patience and good humour. I shall certainly be attending the intermediate course and would have no hesitation in recommending this course all to aspiring woodworkers"

Val Seger-Bernard reviewed: Hand spinning for beginners at Cartmel Handspun

"Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed the Beginners Hand Spinning course with Elaine. She was exceptionally patient and really thoughtful in her way of teaching me. I felt that she was trying hard to understand how I would learn and adapting her methods to help me 'get-it'. It is a lovely environment in which to learn. Lunch was lovely. I would highly recommend attending a course with Elaine if you are interested in learning more about fibre and spinning. She is most definitely an 'expert' :)"

Jonathan Cope reviewed: Wood turning courses in the Midlands

"I am compelled to write this review after enjoying an engrossing 2 days with Mark learning the skills of wood turning. In this relatively short but intense period I lost all track of time and became immersed in the absolute enjoyment of wood turning. The whole experience was, paradoxically, both therapeutic and stimulating. Mark's knowledge, skill and enthusiasm are infectious and as a result of his excellent instruction I will be purchasing my own equipment and continuing with my wood turning journey. I look forward to maintaining contact with Mark and will return for refresher and more advanced courses. I cannot recommend the course and Mark's tuition highly enough."

Phill Sawyer reviewed: 2 day blacksmithing courses

"This was a truly memorable weekend. I attended the course with a good friend of mine and Aaron very quickly assessed our ability and pitched the level of training to our strengths. Within a short time we were producing usable pieces of work and learning the basic techniques which we would need to carry on blacksmithing when we got home. This course has been truly life changing for me. since that weekend with Aaron I have set up my own forge and now regularly make items for friends and family. I have also sold several pieces and have been commissioned to design and make items to order. I would recommend this to anyone who has a practical mind. you will be amazed at the work you will take home with you."

"Just wanted to drop you a note to say a " Big Thank You " for a very enjoyable day. It was my first attempt at wood turning and I really enjoyed the whole experience. You were very informative, patient and an excellent host, which made for a memorable day. I also came away with a very nice ash bowl which I was proud to show off to my family. Thanks for a great day George, hopefully I will be back for more in the New Year. Keep up the amazing work you do. With kind regards, Peter Thomas. PS : thanks also to Sue, for all the sarnies, biscuits and cups of tea !!!!"

Anneke Kloosterman reviewed: Silver jewellery Pendant making workshop

"I did the tree of life pendant workshop as well as the ring making workshop. I really enjoyed doing both workshops, the atmosphere was very friendly and Sarah teaches the skills of jewellery making in a fun, interesting and understandable way. She is patient and helped me through every step of the process. I was really pleased with the end result of both pieces, a lovely keepsake for the future! I will definitely doing more workshops in the future, and also as a gift to someone I think this is a great experience."
