Rachel Luca reviewed: Bespoke candle making workshop - Edinburgh

"Had an amazing time on Kerry’s candle making course with great all round company. Kerry’s kitchen workshop was so beautifully laid out. Was very interesting learning some of the science behind candle making and candle burning. I bought the candle kit which was very reasonably priced and I will definitely be making my own candles from now on. 5 stars all round. Thank you Kerry"

Shelagh Tompkinson reviewed: Stained Glass - Leaded Light (3 days) in the Peak District

"I have just had a fantastic weekend at Zantium making stained glass. This was my second visit to the Studio and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Alison, who runs the course is always friendly and welcoming, she makes great lunches and even greater cakes! Lili, the tutor, is inspiring - she guides you through every step of the process, gives great advice and encourages you to learn through hands on experience. There were only 6 of us on the course and therefore, as numbers are deliberately kept low, Lili is able to give lots of one to one tuition. A great weekend - I'm looking forward to going back for more!"

Lesa Husband reviewed: Mosaic introduction day

"The Mosaic Introduction day was very enjoyable and informative. Prior to attending, I was a little apprehensive due to not being particularly gifted in arty endeavours. I needn't have worried, Helen was so warm and friendly and gave great advice and encouragement throughout the day. My friend and myself were both delighted with what we achieved in a day and we both agreed we learned a lot whilst also finding it relaxing and fun. Highly recommended. Thanks Helen."

"Spent last Friday undertaking my first attempt at stone carving, it was a revelation bought to life by Alan and Tracey. They could not have been more helpful throughout the day. It was a relaxed pace to the day with allowing me to concentrate and get the most out of it. I am certainly considered how I might further myself in this art. Thank you Alan and Tracey."

Micklethwaite Studios responded:

"Hello Tim, Thank you for your lovely review. It was a pleasure to meet you, and you did a great job with getting to grips with tools, techniques and materials to create your carving! We will hope to see you again if you decide to continue your carving journey... Best wishes, Tracey"

Alys reviewed: Introduction to Block Lino Printing in Cambridgeshire

"What a lovely day learning lino printing! As a complete beginner I couldn't recommend this course, or Judith, more highly. The atmosphere is relaxed and encouraging, and although everyone on the course chose very different subject matter, we all ended the day with a collection of amazing and individual prints. I would do it again tomorrow."

Sarah Vickers reviewed: Potter's wheel pottery - half day course Siramik

"I was bought a half day voucher by my brother as a birthday present as he knew I enjoyed doing pottery. I have done a few courses in the past and thoroughly enjoyed working on the potters wheel. However I learnt more in the two hour course run by Yoka than I learnt on several evening college courses. Excellent training in a lovely atmosphere, I would definatley recommend this course and will be going back."

Hilary Alder reviewed: Blacksmith Experience Day - Anvil Forge

"What a fantastic day I had at Anvil Forge, getting a taste of the life and skills of a blacksmith. I am delighted with the garden sculpture which will look terrific by our pond. My friends will be so impressed. I'll take a little credit, but most of it will have to go to John, Mark, Spencer and Charlotte for their kind and sympathetic instruction and encouragement. You may well see me again! Many thanks to you all."

Anvil Forge responded:

"Hi Hilary I am pleased you enjoyed the course and as we mentioned you are welcome to return at any time. The garden sculpture you made ( I think you deserve most of the credit) looked great and would enhance any garden. Best wishes John and the Team"

christopher hallpike reviewed: Learn to carve wooden spoons, beginners and improvers

"Dear Dave, sorry I'm so late with this review - it just slipped my mind. I really enjoyed the day which was very well planned and presented. Just enough to be challenging without being overwhelming. I certainly learned a lot and would like to come to another of your classes sometime. I have sanded down the spoon and butter-spreader and they really look quite aesthetic. (I filled the hole in the spoon with Araldite which looks a bit odd but works!)"

Karl Wills reviewed: Bees for Development Sustainable Beekeeping Weekend Courses 2024

"A useful and informative course at a very nice location. Like many others I had been shown the modern (industrial) way of keeping bees, which felt at odds with my ethics regarding animal welfare. The sustainable bee keeping course provided the information to show that keeping bees could be done in a way sympathetic to the bees. The instructors each had their own views and this helped to create an overall balanced programme."

Rachel Hewitt reviewed: Bespoke candle making workshop - Edinburgh

"Went with my sister in law after we had enjoyed the candles at a fair over the summer. We had a really wonderful time! Kerry was a wonderful host and explained each section brilliantly. The place smelt amazing and was so welcoming and warm. We made our own scented candle, then learnt how to make our own sent to use in a future candle. Everyone on the course was so lovely! We came away so happy and excited about making our own candles in the future. I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking for a gift for a crafty friend or a fun morning out with friends. I would also say, having looked into other craft courses, this was really good value for money!"

Julie Higgins reviewed: Upholstery classes at Sandra Fryer's Workshops

"I found Sandra’s course after being let down at the last minute by someone else. This proved to be the silver lining in my cloud! Sandra is very easy to get on with as she has a very friendly and easy approach to teaching which is great when you are a novice. I jumped in at the deep end with a large armchair and she didn’t flinch - she had me making piping in no time! Nothing is too much trouble - no project a lost cause. Everything is possible and the results are always amazing. I could easily spend all day, every day, padding, cutting, stapling and stitching. Sandra certainly makes it addictive. The tea and cake helps too. If you feel like treating yourself this is definitely the way to do it. I can’t praise her classes enough."

Diana Hampton reviewed: Kate Morrell willow sculpture courses

"Thank you for such a great day. You made me very welcome and you obviously love your willow work and this shows through when showing us how to make things. This course was a present from my husband and he was so surprised when I bought home a duck - which looked like a duck!!! Kate is an excellent teacher, friendly, helpful and so patient - which she needed to be. I would certainly recommend this course to anyone. She provided plenty of hot drinks and the homemade lunch was excellent too. I'm no artist and found that you don't need to be to make an willow animal. Kate shows you a picture of your choosen animal/bird/insect and shows you how to go about it. She will help you when you need it, but guides you. I would love to come on another course some day and possibly make another creature! I'm so pleased that I learnt how to do basic willow weaving. Thanks again, Diana"
