Peter Taylor reviewed: Tool sharpening

"Really enjoyed the course, a good mix of explanation, background, and opportunity to try various sharpening techniques. The demonstrations on a wide range of participants tools was particularly useful. Time is of course short for much personal feedback when there are 9 on the course, but there were opportunities and these were greatly valued. I would encourage any future participants to bring an array of tools, much of the 'added value' was in considering some of the braod range of sharpening challenges! Thanks Dave, a great day!"

Ricky Williams reviewed: Woodturning Course in North Yorkshire with Philip Greenwood RPT

"Just spent two days with Philip. His knowledge and his informal approach made the course excellent. I came away with a better understanding of what I need and where I was making mistakes. His sensible approach to H&S was informative and not over the top. I also gained a few tips for saving money. I would certainly recommend his courses to anyone, either a beginner or someone wanting to gain more knowledge. The welcoming from his partner and Philip was second to none. Thanks for making the 2 days an excellent experience. Rick."

Stephanie reviewed: Virtual Jewellery Making Workshops

"My good friend and I are always looking for new craft hobbies and have been wanting to try jewellery making for ages. With most courses we've found being quite out of the way, we were thrilled to find Jade on Instagram offering an afternoon workshop in such a gorgeous location, with the added extra of afternoon tea! Jade was so knowledgeable, friendly and fun, and encouraged our creativity! I learned so much and thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon, I think I've found a new favourite creative outlet!"

Mark Fairbrass reviewed: Learn to Turn in the Dartmoor National Park

"The moment you arrive in the workshop it's clear you are amongst wood turning elite and Chris Foweraker is the grand master. He's been working with wood all his life and eagerly imparts his knowledge with a patient calmness that is most reassuring. My one day bowl turning course was excellent. Chris had everything pre planned and laid out, and after coffee and safety talk we were away into bowl making, a fine example of which I proudly took home at the day's end. I will go again."

"Absolutely fabulous day with Elizabeth and Sam. I left the workshop feeling inspired and confident. My daughter loved the fascinator I made for her at the workshop. "Had a great day with Chris with expert one to one tuition. First time using a lathe but Chris made it clear what to do and how to be safe. Left with a lovely bowl and comfortable I can take my new skills onward and get better. He also offered advice as to what equipment I should buy for my own workshop. Excellent course and Chris easy to get on with. Loads of brews!"

Douglas Burness reviewed: Woodcarving for beginners - two day course in Suffolk

"I started carving at a later stage of life (retired) and joined a local woodcarving group. They recommended Gerry and after he did a 1 day demo course at our group, I signed up for the 2 day starter course. I certainly became a lot more familiar with carving techniques and methods. Gerry is very patient and describes/explains thing exceptionally well. I would not hesitate to recommend his courses to anyone wishing to learn carving or just to raise their level of skills. Excellent course!"

Gary O’Brien reviewed: Blacksmithing - one to one - Hammer Skills

"Myself and my two sons, had a great day on the course, which was perfectly ran by Bob, who is a real character. We had lots of laughs, and learnt an awful lot, thanks to Bob's guidance, and we had a brilliant lunch with him at the local dine-in chip shop, which I thoroughly recommend. We made a boot scraper, a set of Belfast sink brackets, and Dan’s unique long handled shoe horn!! I can’t recommend the course enough, plus we stayed overnight at The Fleece pub nearby which was brilliant as well. Cheers again Bob....!"

Carol reviewed: One day silver jewellery making in Worcestershire.

"Although not local to where I live, I have to let you know about a rather unique one day silver jewellery course I did last Friday. The workshop was on board a narrow boat moored up on the Droitwich Junction Canal. Jonathan who runs the courses teaches you some basic techniques initially using copper, before giving you the freedom to create your own piece of silver jewellery. Having made my test pieces in copper I came back very happy with a pair of earrings created from silver wire. With wild flowers on the canal banks, the local wildlife visiting, a few walkers passing by on the tow path and breaks for coffee and cake what better way to spend a day. I was lucky enough to have been given this treat combined with a weekend stay in the Cotswolds as a birthday present. So if you are stuck for ideas of what to get someone, I can thoroughly recommend this course."

Salt Way Silver responded:

"I'm very glad that you enjoyed your day - a long way from home! Thank you for the kind words Jonathan"

Sam & Jessie reviewed: Make your own wedding rings - Bristol

"My fiancé and I spent a lovely day making our wedding rings with Lucy earlier this week. We were steadily guided through the process with plenty of opportunity to practice the various techniques before we got to work on the actual rings themselves. Lucy was a great teacher, explaining how everything worked and giving advice whilst I was being very indecisive about the type of ring I wanted (I’m very happy with my choice!) I found the whole process really interesting ... Lucy makes a mean brownie too! Couldn’t recommend this workshop enough! we love our rings and had a great day that we’ll remember for a long while."
