Nikki Lemieux reviewed: Hare Sculpture workshop with Jo Garden Art in beautiful Norfolk/Suffolk

"What a fun day! My Sister and I wanted to spend the day being creative with our 81 yr old Mum who hasn’t made any artwork in over 30 years. Jo gives great instruction, positivity and keeps things moving to create your sculpture. We all thoroughly enjoyed the day and have been inspired to try the process at home."

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Nikki! It was a pleasure meeting you and your family and so glad your Mum enjoyed herself ;-) Can't believe your hare is now in Tuscany!"

Kathy Gatiss reviewed: Fine Silver Keepsake Business Course

"I attended this course on Saturday, travelling from Cheltenham down to Poole ,which took just over two hours......and it was so very worth the effort and time taken. Amanda made me feel very welcome and immediately at ease. She explained every step of each process and took the time to establish it was understood and gave excellent support throughout the day. I came away with beautiful pieces of keepsake jewellery, written guidelines to enable me to repeat the process once at home, and above all the knowledge and confidence to do so. Amanda has been supportive all the way through the process, from the initial booking and directions, through to advice on tools and supplies as well as handy hints and tips. Well worth every penny. Can highly recommend this course."

"Pippa's paper marbling course was great, just what I wanted. She introduced the basics and got us to dive in very quickly, producing our own work throughout the day. Her enthusiasm, knowledge and good humour were inspiring. Keep up the good work!"

Amanda Whiteley reviewed: Art course for improvers

"I am in my third year learning to paint with Rachel’s course and I am delighted that this year Clare has moved the teaching on from the level of previous years. I am now being challenged every week and, whilst I might not have a finished piece at the end of the class, I have always learnt something new, which to me is the point of attending classes in the first place. I can not recommend Rachel and Clare’s highly enough."

The Art Class - Yorkshire responded:

"Thank you Amanda. What a lovely review. I'm so glad you feel like you are being challenged, learning a great deal and are so delighted with the course."

Deborah Shaw reviewed: Pottery Wheel Throwing Workshop

"Having never been even in the vicinity of a potters wheel in my life I was amazed to successfully produce multiple pots with Susanna's guidance and eventually completely on my own. What a fabulous morning with tangible results, beautifully glazed, in use, at my table. I am looking forward to attempting another "throwing morning" to improve my skills but it was brilliantly led; Susanna was calm, open and beyond helpful. Thank you for introducing me to a wonderful past-time."

The Clay Studio responded:

"So pleased you enjoyed it Deborah! Thank you."

Pauline Birtwell reviewed: The art of paper marbling & suminagashi

"I didn't quite know what to expect from the course as I had not done anything quite like this before and I must say it is one of the most enjoyable courses I have ever attended! Pippa was lovely. She was patient and helpful. She is a creative dynamo- and her enthusiasm is contagious. This course is suitable for the 'nervous and afraid' as well as for people with perhaps more artistic backgrounds- no artistic judgements were made, and all the course participants were politely curious about each others work. For people who learn best by demonstration and are happy to have a go themselves, this course is perfect. I will definitely be trying to recreate the wonderful marbled papers we produced on the course at home."

Jane reviewed: Folded Homewares

"I had a fantastic afternoon attending one of Kate's paper folding workshops and highly it recommend to everyone! We spent 2.5 hours folding paper into three wonderful items - a vase, bauble and a star. Each stage of the tuition was clear and as well as group information, Kate came round to us individually to check we were progressing well and had grasped the concepts. As well as the tuition, we were given a custom bag of tools (to take home too) that are needed for the workshop, and illustrated handouts. You don't need any previous skills to do this course, but you definitely go home with them totally inspired to do more! Kate is a warm and friendly tutor who patiently answers all questions - and I can't wait to sign up for other workshops that she runs."

Kate Colin Design responded:

"Thank you Jane and good luck with your festive bauble making!"

Chris Battye reviewed: Leather carving course

"As an experienced leather worker I wanted to expand my repertoire and Slim did exactly that. He was extremely knowledgeable in his craft and aimed the training at just the right level. A challenging day as I picked his most difficult design to carve but well worth the effort. Thoroughly recommended to all levels of experience. Comes with the added bonus of lovely accommodation on site - you have to be quick to book up though as it is extremely busy all year round! Not to be missed"

Ross Leather and Wood responded:

"Hi Chris thanks so much for lovely comments, you were an absolute pleasure to work with. It would be great to keep in contact to swap notes. Thanks again. All the best Slim and Nicky."

Lesley Bluckert reviewed: Art course for improvers

"I really look forward to coming to the class. This is my 3rd year and I feel I have learnt so much over that time. My confidence has increased and I enjoy being in a group with folks I have got to know and seeing how differently we each interpret the subject. There is a great atmosphere, people are very supportive and encouraging. Claire is an experienced and personable teacher. She structures the sessions carefully and knows a lot about the subject, often linking the sessions to the work of different artists. I like learning and applying a technique, e.g. building up the colours in acrylic for the landscape, using the masking fluid with watercolour. For me the sessions are an opportunity to experiment and to take away ideas for something I can use later. Rachel is there to ensure that everything runs smoothly and is a warm and encouraging presence."

The Art Class - Yorkshire responded:

"What a fantastic review Lesley! Thank you for all your kind words. I'm so glad you enjoy the course and feel like you are learning and improving in a supportive and friendly environment."

Elaine Beddow reviewed: Needle felted Highland Cow workshop, South Yorkshire

"Excellent course - was actually a felted alpaca course at Home Farm Crafts with Mandy that I did. Although I did buy the Highland Cow felting kit. I found the course informative, fun and appropriate for all levels of felters from novice to experienced. We were given everything we needed along with many helpful tips, assistance and it was a fun atmosphere with great course participants. Mandy is an excellent instructor. Due to this came home and felted 2 more alpaca whilst the instructions were in my head! Also bought and completed the Highland Cow kit - again everything I needed provided along with easy to follow instructions to ensure a great finished piece. Would highly recommend both the classes and the kits. The venue was also excellent - great surroundings and well provided for. A thoroughly enjoyable day."

Frankie and Sidney responded:

"Thank you for your fantastic review, I’m so pleased you had a great time..."

Judith Davies reviewed: Craft in company: group in Henstridge nr Stalbridge Somerset & Dorset. Bring any craft and/or book a craft taster session from a selection.

"From the moment my daughter and I arrived we felt welcome. We each learned new skills to further develop our craft projects. The day left us buzzing with ideas we were inspired to try. Sally and the other members of the group shared their knowledge willingly and we achieved our own lovely pieces to take home. Thank you and looking forward to next time."

Amanda Greenhough reviewed: Introduction to yarn dyeing at Peak District Yarns

"I attended an Introduction to Yarn Dyeing yesterday with my crafting friend. We had a really super day. We decided to meet up in Tideswell before the course started and enjoyed a hearty breakfast in High Nelly's café. We even had time to enjoy a spot of crochet over a coffee before taking the short walk to the yarn shop where the course was being held. Carrie was a fantastic tutor and before we were let loose with the dyes, we learnt a great deal about the effects that can be achieved, depending on how you choose to distribute colour on your skein. We wore old clothes just in case, but it really wasn't that messy and we managed to stay clean! We were provided with disposable gloves to wear but I may take an old apron with me next time as it would be easy to get splashed. The afternoon flew by, but at no point did we feel rushed. There was more than enough time for us to dye two skeins of yarn and we have both returned home feeling very satisfied with our creations and can't wait to attend another, more advanced course to learn even more with Carrie! Oh and the homemade cake was delicious. Thank you for a wonderful day."

Sharon Birch reviewed: Introduction to making mosaics (Beginner level)

"I drove for 3 hours and stayed at a B&B the night before to attend this taster session and it was absolutely worth it! Sally was an excellent host with a wealth of knowledge and I really appreciated her teaching style of gentle guidance rather than a prescriptive approach. I felt very welcome in a group of people I had never met before and left with pieces of work I felt proud of. I will definitely do this again and would recommend it to anyone wanting to try out different crafts."

Caron Taylor reviewed: Introduction to creative acrylics with Jan Vallance

"I went on this course with my father who had done some acrylic painting but who himself was still a beginner. This was an excellent course run by Jan. She was an informative and skilled teacher and artist who explained everything thoroughly so that even I who had no previous knowledge and hadn't lifted a paintbrush up since at school learnt so much and even produced a painting worth hanging up at home, incredible! My father who had been stuck progressing his paintings now feels able to develop a lot further due to what he learnt on the course. Jan gave so many practical tips and ideas that only a truly professional artist could give. I have already booked for the acrylics 2 course. I would recommend this course to any anybody of any standard as you will learn so much."

Kay Clark reviewed: One day beginners painting course with Sue O'Mara Art - all materials provided

"What a wonderful introduction to oil painting the 6 week course is! I turned up having never done any oil painting before and after the first 2 sessions I had finished my first painting under the expert guidance of Sue. She is a lovely lady, very calm and encouraging and very experienced so able to answer any queries or concerns I had. She holds the classes in her quiet and light filled studio at the back of her house. I felt very nervous embarking on this course but she has filled me with confidence and I am now on to my 3rd painting which is surprisingly intricate (my choice of subject matter) but I feel happy that with Sue's help I can achieve the picture I set out to do. I would recommend any of Sue's courses to any one who has an interest in oil painting, whether they have any previous experience or not."

Jane Hough reviewed: Introduction to yarn dyeing at Peak District Yarns

"I attended my first course with Carrie early last year, it was great! So good that I immediately signed up to her Next Steps in Yarn Dyeing. Carrie is very good at describing what to do and demonstrating what you might achieve, and you do! I learnt so much on my first course and couldn't wait to go back. She even accommodated my disability by putting in a lower table and chairs for me to work at. Carrie's studio is also her shop, with lots of lovely yarn and stuff to buy, how can you resist?"

Andrew Gascoigne reviewed: Wood turning courses in the Midlands

"It is 2 months ago since I attended Mark's workshop for a 1 day course. Mark is a most patient and tolerant person. As I am retirement age plus some Mark coped admirably. Although the day turned out to be somewhat extended (more to do with me) there were no signs of being rushed. Mark did assess what experience I had at the beginning of the day (only self taught previously). What Mark does not know about woodturning is not worth knowing. All in all a most informative and enjoyable day. Andy Gascoigne Sept 19"
