Natural Dyeing Shades of Yellow with the Woodland Haberdasher at Cambridge Art Makers
Description
Yellow producers are the most abundant and diverse group of dye plants, giving strong and reliable colours through a variety of means such as bark, leaves and flowers. Spanning warm golds to cool custards, touching nuclear dayglo greens to burnished brasses, it is a group with tone for everyone. We’ll take a closer look at the chemistry as well as the history and geography of yellow dyes, and how they behave with both animal and vegetable fibres. We’ll aim to dye a yellow ombre of sample skeins using traditional yellows such as weld, purging buckthorn and heather as well as some hedgerow favourites like yarrow and tansy. Learn from Fay's incredible wealth of knowledge on the natural world and processes of dyeing.
