Description
Join textile artist Sophie Bowen for a workshop exploring the creative possibilities of natural dyes. In this workshop, you will be introduced to the world of natural dyes and learn how to create beautiful colours from different plants and food waste found accessible to us. You will be shown how a dye bath is made, and together with Sophie, will dye a selection of silk and wool fibres that you can take home to use in future creative projects. Sophie will also share some of her own creative process in embroidery and drawing with inks to inspire you and there will be an opportunity to have a play with some pre-dyed yarn and natural inks in the session. You will come away with an understanding for natural dye methods, your own selection of naturally dyed mini skeins suitable for embroidery, crochet or knitting, as well as an experimental sample you create alongside Sophie and the group. This beginner friendly class is aimed to encourage you to be inspired to create freely. Unfortunately, we do not have our own designated car park, however there are plenty around Cirencester. The nearest short stay car park is The Brewery Car Park which is approximately 2 minutes away and is a council run pay and display. This car park has several disabled parking spaces too. Sheep Street Car Park is a longer stay car park 3 minutes away, it is a cashless car park facilitated by Pay by Phone. Full details of all car parks and pricing can be found on Cotswold District Council Website.
We pride ourselves on smaller class sizes, so you get plenty of help from the tutors. Maximum 8-10 students per class.
Of course, and for some classes we may ask you to do this. Please don’t worry, if this is the case it will be clearly shown on the booking pages and in your confirmation emails.
