Description
Gelli printing, or Gel Press printing, is a simple yet satisfying process. Using a gelatin plate, this method of printing is suitable for all ages and abilities. The technique is highly adaptable, enabling students to produce a vast range of prints using stencils, masks, or 'drawing' into the inked surface of the plate. The equipment is widely available, and easy to use at home - a gelli plate, a roller, some paint and paper is really all you need to carry on, after attending the class!
What's included in the price?
I provide all materials and equipment. We begin with some basic colour theory, and will initially print a range of background papers, to become familiar with the technique, and create a base for our stencilled designs. Students can then produce their own stencils, using yupo paper and craft knife. Alternatively, select from my range of hand cut designs. We will be focusing on colour, tone, design and composition. At the end of the session, students will have created a series of prints which may then be used in collage, in sketchbooks, to make cards, or to use as individual framed pieces. During the full day class, we will use our printed papers to produce a handmade sketchbook, filled with collage compositions.
