Patchwork Project on a Saturday with Janet Goddard
Description
Once on Month on a Saturday join Janet for a "Patchwork Project". April 2025 - Zippy Pouches. Stitch a selection of useful pouches where the zips open on the diagonal, creating a distinctive feature. These are great little pouches for giving as gifts, for using up small amounts of fabric and are great for a multitude of purposes including the storage of kindles and e-readers, stationery, books, etc. You will begin the day by stitching a medium sized pouch so that everyone can work through the technique together. After the first pouch has been made, alternative measurements will be given for smaller and larger options. You will have time to make two or more pouches during the day. May and June 2025 - Strips that Sizzle. Take a pile of fabrics in one colour and cut lots of strips. Add some plain fabric and some clever stitch and flip. The resulting design makes great secondary patterns when stitched together. Janet has used two colours in her sample, red and white. However, she has tried with multiple coloured scraps and it works just as well. The good thing about it is that it is a good way of using up fabric that perhaps you don't like so much as you only see small strips of it. This quilt can be as big or small as you wish so if you want something larger, you simply need to adjust the fabric quantities accordingly. Students need to be able to use a rotary cutter and stitch an accurate 1/4" seam. The day runs from 10.00am - 4.00pm. There will be a break for lunch between approximately 12.30 and 1.30. There is a coffee shop on site for coffee. Attendees at our classes are visited by coffee shop staff regularly throughout the day to take any orders. Anything consumed during your day is sold at 10% discount. As well as a large choice of hot and cold drinks, the menu comprises savoury choices including sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes and soups. For those with a sweet tooth, there is a selection of cakes and scones made in house with gluten free and vegan options.
