Full day design and make blacksmithing class

Description

In the design and make class, we will take your design idea and with Matt, break it down into processes to bring your own project to life and take your completed project home with you. This course is tailored to get introduced to the basics of blacksmithing techniques and process, you will be given an introduction into safety and use of the coke forges and tools, and then learn the basics of fire management and heating. You will be fully engaged and in charge of the production, and using the correct techniques to forge completely individual, good quality specific items. You'll be instructed and supported to learn the essential techniques of blacksmithing required to bring your piece to fruition on the day, receiving plenty of tutor support working in a small group of 4. All projects are individual and made by yourself, guaranteeing your sense of accomplishment. Suitable design ideas that could be made in one day are things like a hanging basket bracket, fire set, hinges or some other assortment of trinkets. It is best to email us with your thoughts beforehand and we will adjust and advise for the time frame needed. For more time consuming projects like gates, panels etc we suggest a 2 or 3 day course. All tools and materials will be provided, please wear suitable clothing you don't mind getting dirty or marked. Cotton clothing is ideal like jeans and cotton shirt, please don't wear acrylic or nylon clothing. Refreshments of Tea and coffee are provided but you are advised to bring a lunch with you, alternatively take away can be arranged from the local pub
