Description
Learn the basics of blacksmithing in this hands-on introductory morning taster session. Spend three hours learning the basics of forging with Matt or Floyd, then try your hand at making small items such as leaf keyrings and hooks to take away with you and treasure or give as gifts for friends! You will be instructed on how to use the fires, given a safety talk, and then learn about heating your steel and hammering. After that, there will be a demo or two of core principles and instructions on how to make some small items. Then, it's over to you. Guidance and instruction will be on hand throughout. The session will finish at midday, 12:00 or 5:00 pm, and you will be free to take home your glorious items! 3-hour taster session slots are available morning and afternoon starting at 9:00 am, and 2:00 pm respectively, every fortnight. We can recommend a choice of nearby accommodation for those seeking an overnight stay, please get in touch via the 'message the tutor' button for more information.
