Week-day (Three Day) Bobbin Lace Making - Daytime Mixed Lace Workshops (Stoke d'Abernon, Surrey).
Description
To be able to learn to make lace and to progress, it is essential that you can understand, speak, and read English fluently, otherwise you will struggle to even get beyond the basics of the craft. This course runs for THREE consecutive days from the dates mentioned. At the current time it is good to carry on being creative and focusing on the present. So if you run into trouble with your lace and need any form of help, please get in touch with me (via;- 'contact a tutor') and also attach a picture and I will try and help. These three days would be an ideal opportunity to relax and make lace, enjoying the company of like minded people. Come along and try your hand at one of the laces below, or work on your current project, or have help starting a new project. Alternatively, this would be an ideal time to begin learning a Lace Type that is new to you. Tina has over 30yrs experience in making bobbin lace, able to teach in;- Binche, Bedfordshire, Chrysanthemum, Flanders, Honiton, Idrija, Milanese, Russian & Torchon. She is also able to provide guidance to those wishing to start;- Bucks-point, Hinojosa & Duchesse/Withof. If you have any questions do please get in touch for more information. Tina has passed her City and Guilds teaching qualification and has regular classes at a number of location within Surrey. In 2019 Tina was engaged by Pinewood Studios to make lace and teach the actresses for the filming of the BBC Black Narcissus series. Why not come along and work on your existing project and have help/guidance with any problems that may occur, or have you always wanted to try one of the above many laces ? Tina is willing to start you off with a new, or existing, lace technique. This will involve helping you to start, from the beginning, so that you know what to do and are in total control of your lace, with small sample pieces and gradually building up to you being able to work the pattern that you have envisaged doing. I am also holding other mixed & specialised workshops later in the year, but always very happy for you to bring your own lace to any of the workshops. Beginners are always welcome and will commence with what is traditionally your first piece of lace. This will show the two stitches that are required for bobbin lace making. Once you can work these stitches, you will be able to move onto something more exciting. The different laces use these two stitches, along with different techniques to achieve the various effects & patterns, just like knitting. A variety of lace techniques will be on offer at each workshop over the next few months, please contact me for more details and also happy for you to bring your current project to the session and work with help & guidance as required. Attending a class of this nature offers the chance to share tips and experiences that are not found in books, but only from the experience of numerous lace tutors that have guided me. Tina has also mentored a student through Lace Guild 'Foundation Assessment' for Torchon Lace and is also willing to mentor anyone thinking of doing the Lace Guild Assessment. Unlike other course providers, there will be no paperwork for you to fill in, however I would appreciate feedback and for you to leave a review for this course. Stoke d'Abernon is accessible from the A3/M25(J10), A24/A243/245, and via bus routes from Cobham to Leatherhead. The Cobham/Stoke d'Abernon train station is about 10-15 min away and has a taxi rank. Tina has direction Maps & Instructions for anyone attending.
