Marquetry Landscapes - Introduction to Marquetry
Description
Discover the intricate art of marquetry and create a decorative wooden postcard depicting your favourite landscape or take inspiration from our beautiful location here at Harehope Quarry. Marquetry is a centuries old craft that uses thin pieces of timber to create decorative images or geometric patterns. Our beginners Marquetry course is designed to give you a hands on introduction to this delicate artform. From understanding how to both use the grain patterns to enhance your designs to how to approach cutting veneer, you will work through building up your landscape design ready to be glued to its substrate. Simply choose your preferred course date and follow the instructions to book. Once booked, I will send you through all the information you need for the course including how to find us. All tools and materials are provided for your course so you don’t need to bring anything other than a packed lunch. During the course we will work through creating your artwork to the first stage of finishing. As your designs will first need to be stuck to veneer tape and clamped overnight before glueing to their backing boards, I will sand and oil your designs before sending your completed landscapes in the post to you. I only run a limited number of these specialist courses throughout the year so early booking is recommended. Treat yourself to a new skill this year and discover an artform that is unique and allows you to unleash your creative side!

FAQs
You will be using ANH Artisan’s tools during the course which will have been sharpened and prepared prior to your arrival. Unfortunately, you cannot use your own tools during the course as they may not be sharpened and set up safely and correctly for the day and we will not have time to prep additional kit. However if you have your own woodworking tools that you want to bring for advice on how to use them or set them up/sharpen then please do so, but they will be your responsibility to look after and ensure they are safely stored
The workshop is located within a former quarry which means some of the paths can be a little uneven underfoot. The workshop is accessed via a long ramp and we have accessible toilet facilites to the rear of the workshop. Our aim is to make our courses available to every woodworker, however please be aware the nature of the work we undertake duing the courses can be physically challenging, therefore if you have any questions or concerns regarding accessibility please get in touch and we can discuss how to accomodate your needs.
