Description

Beginners hand tool woodworking course. If you have ever tried to saw a straight line or use a chisel and it hasn’t quite gone to plan, that frustration you feel isn’t because you cant do it, it's just because you haven’t learned how to do it properly. This beginners course run over two days will not only teach you the skills and techniques you need to take on any home woodworking project using hand tools, you will also leave with your first ever piece of furniture – a Cracket Stool. All tools and materials are provided for your course so you don’t need to bring anything with you and we will go through step by step how to use a saw, chisels and hand planes as well as having a go at a few more specialist hand tools that you may not have encountered before. At the end of the course you will not only have a beautiful Cracket stool to take home, I will also give you some information to take away about how to start building your own tool kit and how to buy timber. Banish those wonky saw cuts and ragged chiselled edges forever by spending a few hours in our workshop nestled within the beautiful setting within a nature reserve. By booking your course you will be able to build on the skills you learn with me and take them to your next projects with confidence. From making your own shelves, to replacing a garden gate or even making a beautiful box as a gift for a loved one, the skills you will learn over the two days will form the backbone to all of your future woodworking projects. Look forward to seeing you in the workshop!

FAQs

You will be using ANH Artisan’s tools during the course which will have been sharpened and prepared prior to your arrival. Unfortunately, you cannot use your own tools during the course as they may not be sharpened and set up safely and correctly for the day and we will not have time to prep additional kit. However if you have your own woodworking tools that you want to bring for advice on how to use them or set them up/sharpen then please do so, but they will be your responsibility to look after and ensure they are safely stored

The workshop is located within a former quarry which means some of the paths can be a little uneven underfoot. The workshop is accessed via a long ramp and we have accessible toilet facilites to the rear of the workshop. Our aim is to make our courses available to every woodworker, however please be aware the nature of the work we undertake duing the courses can be physically challenging, therefore if you have any questions or concerns regarding accessibility please get in touch and we can discuss how to accomodate your needs.
