Landscape oil painting

Description

Working from images provided, or your own, we will produce 1-2 paintings in this beautiful, buttery medium. I will demonstrate my process from start to finish. Throughout the day you will work on one or two pieces and get to know the process of using this unique material with confidence. There is no doubt that the depth and colour achieved with oil is stunning. This is a really relaxing day in the studio. Come and have a go.

All materials are provided. Tea and coffee are available throughout the day. You are welcome to bring your own lunch to the studio, or grab a bite from the excellent deli or tea rooms in the courtyard.

I study landscapes, weather and seasonal change with a strong emphasis on colour. Currently I am painting with oils, but I regularly produce work with oil pastels, acrylics and inks. My love of the landscape and the ever changing weather conditions are my starting point, developing my work through sketches that explore composition and colour. From here, I work to create vivid and stimulating final pieces.

"I am a complete novice so the fearless drawing title got my attention. This is not a 'how to draw shapes' course' , it's a get the pencils out try these different approaches course. "A very enjoyable day with Laura, mixing, playing with colour and putting our new knowledge into practical use. I particularly liked the bias towards abstraction, and although I didn’t manage to develop this aspect as far as I’d like to during the class, Laura gave us lots of tips and information which I’ll be working on when painting at home.
