Introduction to oil painting- natural scenes

X

Description

We are really excited that local artist Jane Peacock has agreed to run this workshop with us. We have been genuinely blown away by the stunning landscape pictures that people (mostly completely novice artists) have created in her landscape and sunset classes so we are really pleased to now be opening it up to any natural scene. In this class you are invited to paint any natural scene of your choice - a landscape, a seascape, a woodland scene, Chiltern fields, a big sky - whatever natural scene you want to capture in oils. Jane is not only a well-known Chilterns-based print artist but also a highly experienced teacher, so we are really grateful to have her as part of our Where Inspiration Blooms community of teachers. In this two and a half-hour workshop, under Jane’s expert guidance, you will learn basic oil painting techniques and will leave with your very own painting. We would encourage you to bring reference materials with you of your favourite scene to help you capture it, but also to enable Jane to help you recreate it. Jane will take you through what materials and equipment are best for beginners as well as how to care for them (oil painting can be more tricky to clean up than water-based paints!). You will also learn basic composition techniques and tips and how to mix the right colour palettes for your painting. Jane's a really enthusiastic and supportive teacher, so you're in very encouraging hands. This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those who have painted before.
