Fused Glass Flowers for Beginners half-day workshop
Description
Fused Glass Flowers - Glass Fusing Workshop for Beginners Make two Fused Glass Flowers & Learn simple fused glass techniques in this half-day mini workshop. "A really well planned and researched class, a great learning experience!" - Cate Our half-day or 2-session evening course is a great introduction to simple glass fusing techniques, with time to make two funky fused glass flowers. The course will give you an appreciation of some of the key materials used in fusing, plus an insight in to kiln operation and firing schedules. In advance of Armistice day in November, we run a special Poppy Workshop, which includes a donation of £10 to the Royal British Legion on your behalf. With a maximum of 6 students you can be sure of plenty of attention and guidance throughout the class. You'll learn how to cut glass shapes under our expert guidance, and then cut the petal shapes for your two flowers from clear glass from a choice of patterns designed to fuse together well. We'll introduce you to the key tools and techniques needed to successfully cut your glass shapes and prepare them ready for the next session a week later.... You'll then decorate your petal shapes using coloured glass frits and powders and crushed clear glass to your own colour and design themes. We'll also share with you the basics of Coefficient of Expansion and Compatibility of glass, the use of moulds and the firing schedules to be used for fusing your flowers - essential knowledge if you'd like to do more fusing in the future. Once your petal shapes are decorated you'll lay them out ready to be fired. Your pieces will be fired flat and then fired again in a mould to give the curved flower shape. After firing your flowers will be ready for you to mount on the metal stems we provide. Your finished flowers can be 'planted' indoors or outside in your garden!
