Description

Current workshops are fully booked - Please contact me to add your name to waiting list or request an additional date This course is designed as a follow up to the full day Introductory Eco Dye Course that I teach. The use of natural dyes or Indigo can enhance the natural colour of the leaves and ofcourse the fabric itself. You will learn * how to mordant silk with alum, and mordant cotton with Aluminum Acetate * how to add iron mordant * how to combine ecodyeining with dye blankets that act as the carrier of the colour. I use logwood, cochineal, or madder and whatever dye plant is growing in my dye garden at the time of the course. * You will learn how to combine indigo dye with eco-printing * and finally learn how combining iron mordant with a tannin produces lovely shades of blue and grey to enhance the ecodye prints. You will take home samples of dyed silk and cotton fabrics and you may choose to purchase extra silk (hemmed silk scarves) to dye if you wish. This a full day course in order to fit in all of these intermediate skills required to achieve good results for yourselves at home. It is necessary that you have completed an introductory course with myself or elsewhere to ensure that you are familiar with the basic techniques of bundling, leaf collection, and the cooking techniques. As with the Introductory Course I offer a one hour zoom follow up to answer further questions/problem solve and admire your new work. Whether you want a relaxing creative day or you want to learn the basic techniques to try out at home - this one day workshop will help you to achieve successful and reliable results. Please note: if these dates do not suit you, I am also flexible and can consider weekday, 1:1 or weekend classes on request. Just use the 'chat with maker' function on this page.
