Description
Cyanotype - the fundamentals and more ... Current workshops are fully booked - Please contact me to add your name to waiting list or request an additional date. This workshop covers the basics of producing sunprints with plenty of opportunity to try additional creative ways to produce exciting prints and images. You will spend the morning 11.00-1.00 learning how to produce Sunprints on pre-prepared papers and fabrics using plant material from my garden and found objects. You will gain an understanding of timings, how to produce clear and crisp prints and varied depth of tone prints. And how to develop the prints to produce the bluest of blue so typical of Cyanotype images. Prior to lunch, you will also learn how to make the solutions required for Cyanotype, and apply to fabric and papers ready for use in the afternoon. We will aim for a 30 minute lunch During the afternoon session, 2pm to 3.30pm we will use images copied onto digital transparencies and learn other creative techniques, including the use of stencils and how to shift the tone from blue to other colours with assistant solutions. Over tea and cake at 3.30pm we will look at all of the work produced, and look at ways you can use the prints in further mixed media projects and how to care for fabrics. Workshop ends at 4pm. We will work fast and playfully, so that you create as many different samples as possible. By trying lots of different source materials and different papers/fabrics/and more to print onto … you will spend a day gaining a good understanding of how to produce creative prints. It’s a real opportunity to play with lots of guidance. We will work in a large gazebo in the garden and some internal spaces too. Please feel free to bring along your own plants and objects, papers and fabrics and if you are digitally proficient, bring your own photo negatives printed onto transparencies. Please bring your own protective gloves. Itss advisable not to wear your best outfits and shoes as spillages can lead to a lot of blue! Summer days should be fine for bright light, even if it is not super sunny. But I have a UV light box to use to be on the safe side.
