Description
In this workshop you will be guided in the process of making beautiful cyanotype 'sun prints' which capture the intricate details and forms of the plants, flowers and other nature finds you choose. You will leave the workshop with a selection of prints which will make lovely framed prints, cards, bookmarks or gift tags. You will also take away the knowledge and confidence required to continue exploring the process at home. In the morning we will meet and I will share a litle of the fascinating history and development of this alternative photography process, looking at some example prints and discuss how we create crisp images and balanced compositions. Where location allows we will head out for a local walk to collect some foliage and other items such as feathers etc which we will use in our work. Please feel free to also bring any of your own plants from your garden, or other items you wish to use. Once we return from our walk we will work alongside each other to create compositions exploring the traditional cyanotype method. After lunch we will continue printing, exploring and stretching our new skills progressing onto the wet cyanotype technique. My aim is to make the day relaxed, fun and informal. The workshop would suit an individual looking to learn something new, a group of friends looking to share some quality relaxing time together or perhaps to celebrate a special occasion such as a hen do or birthday. This workshop is open to adults (16+) and can be held at the Tilly and Roo Studio in Foyers or at an alternative venue such as your own home. Having developed a passion for wildlife and nature from a young age, I am now very fortunate to live in the beautiful village of Foyers, a small Highland community on the south-side of Loch Ness. I have a degree in Wildlife Biology, a post graduate Diploma in Occupational Therapy and am currently employed as a Specialist Occupational Therapist at Highland Hospice, where I am privileged to manage a small but dedicated team of therapists. A much loved and very special part of my role is the facilitation of therapeutic patient art groups in our purpose built Art Room. I love sharing creativity. I also work from a small pottery studio in Lower Foyers, just 5 minutes walk from the famous Falls of Foyers and the shores of Loch Ness. I thrive on exploring new processes having developed skills in ceramics, enamelling, jewellery making and printmaking. Jen x
