I am considering signing up for the next one to finish my project and try something a little less ambitious than I opted for in the afternoon! "I had a very enjoyable afternoon indeed and arrived home feeling uplifted. Sophie was a wonderful tutor who ensured that there was a friendly, supportive and encouraging atmosphere. Having demonstrated the main principles she helped us all to be creative. We all went home with a very personalised and individual finished wreath that we had made from the extensive array of materials Sophie provided for us to choose from. It was so good to have enough time to finish the wreath at the workshop and not to return home with it only partially completed (as sometimes happens at some craft workshops) I hope it will be possible to attend other courses at Stanwick Lakes and it would be especially good to learn to create a Christmas wreath nearer the time."

"I arrived with a friend to a welcome from Sophie, our tutor, a voucher for a pieces of cake and a cup of tea. The class started with an introduction and an eplanation of what was available and suggestios about coloiur and texture. There was an abundance of dried grasses and flowers to work with. We all got stuck in with enthusiasm and by the end of the class (2,1/2 hrs) later, all of us had managed to produce a wreath to be proud of. Sophie was great, advising and helping were and when necessary. The promise of another afternoon wreath making with another theme is on the cards. If possible I will certainly be there."

The materials and equipment were of good quality and sufficient quantity that there were few occasions when anyone had to wait. My fellow students were very friendly which made for a very enjoyable couple of days. As a bonus, I ended up with a small pane of which I am disproportionately proud"

"It was very absorbing. I had not done this before. Peter was very helpful and gave good explanations. Time flew by. We made a flower first, step by step, to grasp the techniques. Then in the afternoon we selected a bigger plaque to carve from Pete's selection of template s, eg leaves, animals, Celtic knotwork. There was not enough time to fully complete the second project but we were advised of the tools we could get to complete it. Lovely setting and the food from the cafe was good."

"I found the two day Stained Glass course extremely satisfying. Having reached retirement, I wanted to try something I had never experienced, and new little about, other than observing the process occasionally on TV or YouTube. I wanted to see if this was the kind of hobby I might like to pursue in my latter years. The course was excellent, all the required tools were supplied as were all the materials, complete with a selection of design guides to enable me to create a sample 'masterpiece'. Step by step throughout the course the help and guidance from highly experienced Jo the tutor was first class and beyond my expectations. Keeping the course to only a few people meant the one to one tutorial was extra useful in the creating and learning process. I'm now the owner of a piece of leaded glass I created during the two days, it may not be a masterpiece or be big enough to adorn a Cathedral window, but during the process of the two days I have cut glass, mitred lead, soldered, cemented and polished my little masterpiece which I'm informed could last over a hundred years! - Now which member of my family should I leave it to....."
