"Had really wonderful day with Robert and the other participants on the course. We went through the whole process of selecting which wood to work with and to think through what we wanted to make. The technical instruction was excellent and the workshop and company fantastic. Being able to leave with a respectable carved spoon was the icing on the cake. Would recommend 100%."
"The course was exactly as described. It delivered everything that my daughter and I wanted, and quite a lot more.
We spent the day using quality tools, working with natural materials under the guidance of Robert, a master craftsman. So far, so good.
However, the sum of those parts felt like so much more. I felt we were given a small insight into the philosophy and practice of 'Making'. This has had quite an impact, and has stayed with me. That may seem like a strange thing to say about making a spoon (which I'm very proud of), but perhaps that's the point.
The icing on the cake was spending the day with a small group of lovely, like-minded people.
I strongly recommend that you stop reading these reviews and book the course."
"I loved this course. The environment was really nice and chill and I learned so much about trees, about wood, about how to think about carving and how to use the key tools needed for wood carving. I started with a log of chestnut and walked home with a spoon, and I feel like I have the knowledge to do the same thing again without supervision. I definitely want to pick up some tools of my own and practice the skills I learned in this workshop, and feel like I picked things up that day that will be useful for the rest of my life!
Not only a great introduction to woodworking, since I came with zero prior knowledge, but also great to be able to learn from the knowledge of a professional taking the time to share mistakes and expertise with us so that we can understand how to go away and try our hand at this in our own time. Thank you so much for a great day! I was completely absorbed and learned a tonne!"
"Our day was as is described in the course outline. I enjoyed Robert's informative and laid back approach to the group. He demonstrated and explained each step of the process as we went along, then guided us as we tried to do it ourselves and we all produced a serviceable spoon at the end of the day. The time passed quickly - a sure sign of an absorbing activity. "
