"I booked my mum and I onto this workshop and Claire was great at communicating and made us very welcome on the day. She had a great blend of being there when we needed help but also stepping back to let us get on with things when we wanted to. She offered lots of advice on design and we are very much looking forward to seeing the end results once fired. We managed to finish the workshop in a couple of hours but were happy to go out for lunch! Worth bearing in mind that you're not just paying for the time on the day but also the time to fire the pieces etc. Would def recommend. "

"Wonderful experience! Thanks. I thought four hours would be enough time to do lots of pieces and so on. But we all did one piece and we all had to work hard and focus to get it done inside four hours. What a wonderful skill and so fun! "

Standing on a Beach responded:

"So glad you enjoyed it, time passes so quickly. All the panels have had one firing and in for the texture fuse. Will message when all are finished."

"I do enjoy a good craft course and this was an awesome Christmas present. Claire gave us a glass cutting tutorial and explained how to construct a glass picture. We got to create whatever picture we wanted and Claire was on hand to advise and assist. The Larick Centre was a nice venue and there was a cafĆ© on site too. Canā€™t wait to see the finished article once itā€™s fired in the kiln and posted out to me."

"Great experience. Attended this class with my husband and we both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Claire was even kind enough to arrange for our creations to be posted to us as we are not local. Our panels were packed with exceptional care and arrived very quickly. We would definitely attend again. Thanks very much!"

"I recently attended a fused glass course which was one to one lasting from 9 am to 1pm. Claire explained the process very well and I successfully made a panel. However the panel was completed by 10.30am. I was not offered any further pieces or offered advice on how to display the panel. I also discovered I had to return a few days later to collect my panel. In my opinion the course (which cost Ā£100) was not value for money and I would not recommend anyone to purchase this gift voucher. "

Standing on a Beach responded:

"Hi Esther, Thank you for your review and Iā€™m sorry you felt you didnā€™t receive value for money. All options on how to create a panel were explained and I am unable to control the time it takes a student to complete their piece. Some students take much longer than the four hours, some take less. It depends on the design chosen and the complexities of the piece that is made. The size of the panel is in the description on CraftCourses prior to booking so all students understand the dimensions available. I do not offer stands as part of the workshop as pieces differ greatly in width and depth, depending on the technique utilised on the day. However, I did advise you could purchase stands for your piece specifically made to the dimensions of the finished panel from websites when you collected the panel. Had you asked about mounting your piece on the day we could have discussed options available. I would also like to draw your attention to the description on CraftCourses which clearly states ā€˜the fused piece will be fired after the workshop and can be collected at later dateā€™. I also offer postage if collection isnā€™t an option. Firing, depending on your chosen styleā€™ takes many hours in the kiln and this process is not that of stained glass which can be taken away on the day. Your panel took 36 hours to fire. Iā€™m sorry your experience wasnā€™t as anticipated and I appreciate your feedback. Kindest regards Claire "

Claire was very helpful as we had no previous experience, we all thought it was a great experience and canā€™t wait to see the results. "

"Lovely session with Claire - she is so reassuring and puts complete beginners at ease. Of course havenā€™t yet seen the finished product because of kiln time, but I know Iā€™ll love it anyway! "

"I thoroughly enjoyed this glass fusing day course with Claire who had been in touch with me beforehand to check she had the glass colours I would be using in stock and also to provide detailed instructions on how to reach her workshop. I was a bit apprehensive at first as Iā€™d never worked with glass before but Claire, who is very experienced, soon put me at ease. She explained the processes very clearly and then gave me some practice time cutting the glass and answering my questions before I got started. She was happy to give suggestions on the best way to construct my panel and I was able to add copper wire and frit to the glass before leaving my piece with Claire for firing. I canā€™t wait to see the finished design! I would thoroughly recommend Claireā€™s Fused Glass Workshop."
