There was quite a pace to the course to get everything done but the group was really nice, the atmosphere convivial & all set in a great location. "OUTSTANDING Introduction to Green Wood Furniture Making on 30 - 31 January 2016. Having promised myself this treat some time ago - I thoroughly enjoyed the two days and I've got the bug now. I've ordered my left-handed axe (who knew!) and a froe and will be on the case for Japanese saw and drawknife shortly. Peter's quiet and authoritative delivery with conviction, skill, experience and encouragement is a great way to learn. The group of folk there were convivial and there was a quick sense of camaraderie as we all did our best... and all came away with a table or stool that came from fresh cut timber and all beginners at these techniques. If you fancy this - just do it, you'll be pleased you did. Many thanks - unreserved enthusiasm."

"I went on Peter's shave horse course last year and came home with a fully working item that I had made myself. I am not a woodworker but the excellent preparation that Peter did beforehand made the process smooth and easily achievable in 1 day. I was excited to be working in a proper green woodworking shop and using excellent tools, some for the first time in my life. It was great to meet other people from a variety of work backgrounds but who all have some common interest. It was a privilege to be taught by someone as skilled as Peter and his own works are an inspiration. Fully recommended."

"With little experience, I was able to make a shave horse, over the course of a day. There was lots of measuring and accuracy needed but help was always at hand. Most of the wood was pre-cut to size but we had to measure drill holes. The shave horse is a great portable design and is a neat piece of kit for a forest schooler. Peter is a calm, patient and confident tutor. All tools needed were provided and waiting times to use drills were minimal. The large barn/workshop was a good environment to work in and was well heated by a woodburner. The place can be a little hard to find and I would always follow Pete's instructions rather than the sat nav or GPS. Value for money - Excellent."

"This was the second course I have attended and both have been excellent. As a complete novice at green wood furniture making I confess to being apprehensive, my fears were unfounded and I cannot recommend Peter as a tutor and mentor highly enough. All round a great experience in an ideal location and enormous fun, the learning packed into the courses is enormous and leaves you wanting to try experimenting on your own. I constructed the Patio Table and my son the nest of tables. Make sure you take lunch the nearest shop is 5 miles away!"

"I absolutely loved this course! With absolutely no skills or experience with any woodwork or tools, there is no one more shocked than me to find I have a beautiful table that fits perfectly in my living room! There is a great balance between supportive guidance, and encouragement to take ownership and work your own project. Therefore people with more background than I had also seemed fulfilled and challenged to the right degree. In addition, it seemed like we all supported each other, which made for a very social experience. A really enjoyable weekend indeed - big thanks to Peter and Cath."

"We had a great weekend on this course. I have never done wood work of any kind before, and as a complete beginner found that Peter and his helper Dave were patient teachers. I surprised myself by coming away with a green wood stool that I am proud of, and isn't wonky! It was brilliant to get away from the rat race, (no mobile signal) and create something beautiful. If you are in any doubt about choosing this course, all I can say is ' do it!'"

"How on earth can I turn this green log into a chair for my dining room? Worries that were forgotten as soon as Peter started with his instructions. He is an excellent teacher and emphasizes in design. With every day I gained more confidence in using the tools and I went home with a really light chair. Thanks to the steam bent elements for the back it is very comfortable, too. His workshop lies in a picture-postcard part of Devon, where only cows and birds interrupt the peace and quiet. The facilities for working inside and outside are excellent. I come back – no question.K"

"What a great course, so much learnt about green woodworking and the techniques needed to build a wide variety of furniture. At the start of the week the idea of producing a piece of furniture can seem daunting but Peter encourages and guides you in the right direction in his own unassuming manner. The tools and instruction are top quality and by the end of the six days you will have created a unique seat of your very own. "What an amazing two days with the brilliant Peter and Jarve on the introductory course. I made a stool from cherry and sycamore and it was incredible. I was amazed at how you could turn a wet tree into a beautiful piece of furniture in just two days. Thanks to Peters clear and calm instruction and obvious vast knowledge of green wood working enabled everyone to create beautiful furniture irrespective of people's experience and abilities.
