David Cook reviewed: Adobe Photoshop Fundamentals (Weekend) - Nottingham Trent University

"The course was good, well paced & structured. What was very poor & unprofessional was it took nearly an hour to log on, we did not get started till after 11:00"

Nottingham Trent University responded:

"Dear David, Thank you so much for your review, I'm very glad to hear that the course structure and pace has been enjoyable for you so far. I apologise that you had a bad experience due to some technical issues with our new IT accounts, I can assure you that this was a teething issue with a new process, which has been fixed the next session of the course. Your feedback is always appreciated, and we're always looking at how the short course student experience can be improved. Kind regards, Alison Short Course Administrator "

Sarah Allsop reviewed: Life Casting for Beginners (Saturday) - Nottingham Trent University

"This is a fantastic course! We learnt so much during the day; all the various aspects of life casting. Richard was an excellent tutor; so engaging and knowledgeable. Andreea, his assistant for the day, was fantastic too, very helpful. I would recommend the course to anyone with an interest in life casting. There were 4 of us on the course, all with different backgrounds and aspirations, which was interesting too; gave you other ideas of what you might do with your new skills. I would point out 2 things for other potential students. 1) you're on your feet all day so bare that in mind and 2) you're best taking a packed lunch and maybe a flask of coffee, as the student cafe was closed when we were there and there wasn't much else nearby. Loll B reviewed: Botanical Drawing and Illustration for Beginners - Nottingham Trent University

"An excellent course. I left the course with a much better understanding of the medium and the whole process of botanical drawing and painting. Can't wait for a follow-up course, but for now I have plenty of exercises in drawing and colour mixing to do to put everything Dawn taught me into practice. Dawn was patient, supportive and generous with her knowledge and the group was lovely. Thank you Dawn."

Nottingham Trent University responded:

"Good Morning, Hope you are well? The short course team and myself are absolutely thrilled to hear that you had such a good experience on our Botanical Drawing and Illustration course. Dawn is a fantastic tutor and we can't wait to welcome you back for the follow-up course. It is great to hear that you have learnt skills that you can practice while at home. If you need anything please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to help. Best wishes, Harry Clague Short Course Team"

Jacqueline Smith reviewed: Drawing for Beginners - Nottingham Trent University

"I started the drawing course feeling very nervous, as this was my first drawing course in many many years. Chris the tutor was fantastic he was very supportive to everyone. He has a wonderful way of explaining and helping you to see the beauty in your work. I learned a lot about different aspects of drawing and found I began to relax and let my creativity come through. I particularly loved the life drawing and learning about different artists as well as working alongside and collaborating with the other people on the course. I would definitely recommend this course to everyone even if like me you don’t feel you have the ability. It’s well worth it ! Very sad when the course ended. Thanks Chris."

Sarah reviewed: Drawing for Beginners - Nottingham Trent University

"I went into this course slightly nervous having not drawn properly since school …. 34 years ago. I’ve come out of the course with confidence, a love of drawing again and a feeling of it does not matter what you do or how it looks at the end of the day it is fun, relaxing, thought provoking and interesting. Chris immediately put us at ease. He encouraged, made us laugh, the group bonded because of it and at the end of the last session we were all extremely sad to finish and ended up in the pub! I can’t recommend NTU and this short course enough. Chris was a fantastic teacher. What do I do now on a Monday evening??"

Attendee reviewed: Thrills and Chills: Writing Crime, Suspense and Horror - Nottingham Trent University

"This course was very disappointing. The description & exercises looked excellent & the bronze award and good review encouraged me to enrol. I now see the previous review was written three years ago & the course has changed since then. This recent course was poorly organised & the instructions were confusing. I believe there are structured & inspirational ways to teach this subject matter, even though it’s not as easily defined."

Nottingham Trent University responded:

"Hi. We're sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the course this summer. It’s one that has run in the past over five Saturdays very successfully (this was the first time we tried it as part of our intensive summer programme). We had good feedback from some students, but because we’re always looking at ways to improve our offer we are considering aiming this existing course at beginners (with some adjustments), and designing something that might appeal to a more experienced audience in the future."

Creative and fun! reviewed: Thrills and Chills: Writing Crime, Suspense and Horror - Nottingham Trent University

"I had a fab week on this course during the summer. Jason was an excellent tutor - very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I was able to create a wide range of ceramics, using traditional methods and new technology. There was freedom on the course to explore any direction that you wanted to go on, using the vast array of state of the art equipment at NTU. I really enjoyed the week, I learnt loads and enjoyed having the time and freedom to play and explore. The amount we got to make and the materials we used certainly made it excellent value for money. I would wholeheartedly recommend."

"Brilliant course. I enjoyed how thorough our tutor was in making sure we were happy. The schedule was well-defined, and I was able to get a large amount of work done that I am more than happy with. This has made me consider the MA Illustration course taught by the same tutor."
