Hi, I'm Helen Shere, a full time jewellery designer maker. I have been in business since 2008, and am constantly learning new skills and developing my work.
I design and make jewellery in silver and gold, drawing inspiration from the urban textures and leafy details found in Nottingham and York, both of which I call home. Metal stamps and texturing methods are used to ‘draw’ on the surface of the silver, creating illustrative and tactile pieces of jewellery full of detail and pattern. I have developed the technique of using my stamps in combination with the process of keum boo, the ancient Korean technique of bonding 24ct gold foil to silver, to create a unique look to my pieces. The oxidised black patinas and warm yellow 24ct gold details add colour and depth to the designs.
I can offer an introductory workshop to Keum Boo for small groups based at the Nottingham Jewellery School.
I can also offer private one to one tuition on beginners jewellery making from my home studio with times and projects structured to suit you.
Any questions, please get in touch - I'd love to hear from you!
