"We had a brilliant day with Chris for my daughter's birthday. He very kindly made us a tailor made course and managed to squeeze five people into his workshop and garden! We were there from 11-4 and took it in turns to use the wheels and a little hand building. What stood out to me was the incredibly thoughtful organisation. Every detail - down to a lovely lunch was planned out. Chris started out by demonstrating basic throwing and then patiently guided each of us through making our first pot - or saucer in my case!! By pot 3, nice little bowls were being produced despite us all being beginners. After lunch we went out in the garden and enjoyed some messy play with slip to decorate our pots. I would highly recommend Chris as a teacher - he is patient and very encouraging. He even made each of us a bowl to decorate in case ours didn't turn out."

"Did this course as an "all day" session along with the glass fusing taster. It was a great day out. Chris was really helpful and made sure we all got to a good result. My only point of note is that it was cold - to be fair this was pointed out on the joining instructions but I'd definitely have taken more layers if I'd thought about it!"

"I have now enjoyed two courses of 8 lessons with Chris. He is a brilliant teacher and has so much patience ! I enjoyed all my lessons and am really pleased with the many things I made . Making pots, bowls and mugs on the wheel was great fun but I especially enjoyed making tiles /coasters and some long tapas dishes using slab rolled clay. Decorating everything using different coloured slips was fantastic fun too; even though I am no artist , with guidance from Chris I made things I am really proud of ! I can 100% recommend Chris to anyone considering pottery lessons."

"Chris was friendly and patient! It was our first time using a potters wheel, he demonstrated first then let us loose on the wheels! His guidance was so good we managed to make 3 lovely items each just in the one off session. We would both highly recommend Chris and would like to go back ourselves! "I returned with my son to spend another satisfying morning with Chris trying to improve my throwing skills and learning how to work with clay . This time we produced some fairly decent mugs. Think I am beginning to get the hang of it ! Chris is a great teacher. Such an enjoyable time and great experience . Everyone should try it !"

"I booked an introductory taster course with Chris, and had an absolutely fantastic time! I wasn't very confident initially, but Chris provided great tuition and support. He patiently guided me to produce several bowls/pots - and didn't mind at all when I required a few attempts to get it right! I was really pleased with my finished products - which we coloured with slip - and can't wait to see them once the firing process is complete. I would highly recommend this course to anyone - Chris has amazing skill at both pottery and tuition; you will have an amazing time!"

"Until my time with Chris, I had had no experience with pottery but was given three hours of tuition as a present. Chris provided patient and expert tuition in a warm, friendly environment with lots of tea. I ended up making seven different items over two sessions in two different glazes - from small mugs, to dishes for serving, say, nuts or olives. Chris looks after all the firing and keeps in regular contact to arrange pick-up of finished items. I am really pleased with the results and the whole experience was really enjoyable - Chris is great company and offers the opportunity to move on to the next project, taking learned skills a bit further each time. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone wishing to have a go at this lovely craft. :-)"

"My mum and I had so much fun doing our one off pottery session with Chris. I felt very comfortable and completely at ease. I had no experience with pottery at all before we went, but finished the session with two little bowls and an interest in pursuing pottery as a hobby. Chris was very patient and an excellent teacher. "I went with my mother in law as a joint Christmas present from my sister in law and we had a fabulous time! We've both done a bit before and Chris was very adaptable, gauged our abilities very quickly and supported us as and when needed. We both felt much more confident as a result! He offered lots of tips and suggested various methods that helped me find my feet again on a wheel. He taught me alternative methods for handles and glazing that were interesting and much easier than I had learnt previously! The morning flew by and we had a wonderful time! Totally recommended and hope to go again soon!"

"I booked 6 lessons with Chris and enjoyed every minute. Chris is a skilled teacher, very encouraging, explains everything really clearly and helps you produce beautiful pieces of pottery. I came away with an assortment of mugs, bowls and little vases, a full set of clay stamps (which were fun designing!) and a knowledge of how to throw, slip and decorate my creations. I am hoping to now join a community pottery near home where I can continue my new passion."

"My boyfriend organised for us both to complete a one off pottery class as my christmas gift which we completed last Thursday evening. I had wanted to have a go since watching The Great Pottery Throwdown. I had a fantastic evening having a go on the wheel and decorating tiles (both were harder than they looked) but Chris was a great teacher who was patient, informative and made us both feel at ease. We are already looking to book again and I am recommending to friends and family! The only bad thing was that my boyfriend was better than me!"

"I had two lessons with Chris as a birthday gift as i am a big fan of the pottery throwdown on TV! I have to say i thoroughly enjoyed both lessons and it has given me a real enthusiasm for pot throwing. Chris was very welcoming, easy to get on with, explained everything slowly and clearly and was very encouraging. I created some small pots and a mug on first lesson and some bowls on my second lesson. He glazed and fired my first pots for me so they were ready to take away on my second lesson which was great. I also had some tiles to take home and scraffitto which was good fun and my wife and kids had a go too! A really great experience with a patient and knowledgeable potter - highly recommended."
