Maker's bio

I am a trained cabinet maker / furniture designer maker and have over 25 years’ experience working with wood. I have worked on projects for businesses and high worth individuals including those from the worlds of Hollywood and Premier League football. I also have TEFL training under by belt from the 90s and therefore come from a background of teaching. I taught woodwork part time for Start in Salford for 4 years and then took up training in my own workshop in 2014. Designing and making furniture, lighting, wall art and sculpture has been a passion of mine for many years and my hope is that all students leave the workshop with some of the enthusiasm I have for the fields of Art, Craft and Design.

"An extremely enjoyable and informative course. David is an extremely patient and knowledgeable teacher - as well being a maker of very fine and artistic furniture. Relaxed atmosphere in the workshop - would highly recommend this course. David goes through important principles of planing, tool sharpening, drilling, marking out and finishing - all useful skills to apply to your own projects."

"I had never made any jewellery before, but love wooden things, loved the look of the necklaces/pendants, so jumped at the opportunity to make one myself. The three hours went in a flash. It was lovely to get out of the city and so Interesting to learn how to make something from scratch. The pendant looks simple, but there were many different stages, the use of different tools and machinery, to arrive at the finished product. Dave is informative, patient, his teaching was interwoven with interesting facts, chats, guidance and support. You will not be disappointed. I look forward to returning. I had such a fun and enjoyable few hours in the workshop, there is a cosy wood burner in there too."
