Bill is a lovely man and took me through the process at a perfect pace with patience and encouragement. He was happy to answer any questions I had and explained things in detail using props to clarify. I’m over the moon with the bowl I took home and gained from the day everything I had hoped to and more. I’m hoping to get the opportunity to return and make something different in future. "My husband and I are first time woodturners and had a great experience with Bill! He was kind enough to accommodate us for a custom date. Bill is such a nice man, very friendly, informative, and most importantly a very patient man. He taught us how to use the equipment and proper tool techniques to make peppermills that are a work of art that we are proud to use. He covered the safety, how to use the equipment, and all the tools we'd need and diligently helped us each step of the process, kindly correcting mistakes and showing the correct way. Excellent, thorough instruction! Bill's course was the highlight experience of our weekend getaway and we hope to meet him again. Highly recommended!"

"One to one course. Overall an excellent and informative course with Bill covering many aspects of wood turning- ranging from wood preparation, through to chisel types and sharpening. The usage of the chisels and types of cut on the lathe was particularly informative and Bills approach to the use of the gouges was informative and supportive. Bill demonstrated great patience and skill in assisting myself as a complete beginner and I would recommend the course to anyone who wanted to learn the basics of turning and the safe handing of wood chisels. "December 2023 I arranged for my son-in-law and I to attend Bill's introduction to woodturning course. Prior to the course I had an email conversation with Bill about what I knew my son-in-law wanted to make and sent over his drawings, on arrival we were greeted warmly and offered a hot drink followed by Bill telling us he had come up with a design he thought was more suitable for us but was willing to go ahead with either design. We decided to go along with Bill's design and then got shown around his very well fitted out workshop which was clean, pleasantly warm and well lit and had a toilet. He followed this up with an explanation of what he had planned for us to do and an introduction to the machines in the workshop. Bill broke the production of our chosen design down into steps and demonstrated each step before allowing us to try our hand at it and once completed he moved us onto the next step until completion. As an instructor he proved to be very attentive offering advice and assistance when needed, his mild easy going attitude made him extremely approachable along with his wealth of knowledge, and obvious enjoyment of teaching his subject. I have since spoken to him and again he was generous with his time and advice, in all a perfect gentleman. I feel the course was worth the cost. We both had a very enjoyable day and each had a wooden ornament to take home, we have now purchased a lathe of our own, as our experience grows, will go back to Bill for further instruction."
