Watercolours: A Playful Approach

X

Description

In this fun workshop we will explore a variety of ways to work with watercolours, covering a wide range of techniques to create colourful illustrative images full of textures, layers and pattern. We will play with resists, printed shapes, mark-making, linework, a smattering of spattering and a bit of bling! During the course of the day we’ll produce a number of reference sheets and at least two paintings. There will be lots of demos and step-by-step instruction in this fun and informal workshop. What to bring: - Several sheets of heavy watercolour paper (approx. 220gsm) whatever size you like to work at. - Drawing pencil; low-tack masking tape, dip pen if you have one, (the tutor will also bring some) - Watercolours– whatever you have – if buying specially just buy primary colours (ideally Ultramarine, Pthalo blue, Cadmium Yellow pale, Cadmium red, Permanent Rose) If you like to work on a large scale tube watercolours are better than pans. - A tube of white gouache - If you have metallic paints or pens (not essential) please bring them. - Mixing palette, brushes (whatever you have) – the tutor will also bring some - Kitchen roll - Apron
