Silver Rings - Textured & Stamped Jewellery (1 day) in the Peak District
Description
Create two beautiful silver rings, each with a unique personalised twist. Embellish your jewellery with letter stamps and motifs to add your own (secret) message or decoration. You will learn how to cut, shape, stamp and solder. Choose your preferred finish, whether textured, hand hammered or polished smooth. This workshop offers a great introduction to silversmithing – or the chance to brush up existing skills. Design the perfect gift for a loved one or your own special keepsake. Tutor: Louise Mary Designs Louise studied Metalwork & Jewellery at Sheffield Hallam University and has since gained numerous awards and commissions. Her work has been showcased at galleries around the country including London’s Goldsmiths’ Hall and the V&A. Louise runs her own studio in South Derbyshire. She has written 2 books on jewellery making techniques and is an experienced designer maker and teacher. Start time: Join us from 9.30am for tea/coffee and introductions. Tuition starts at 10.00am. There are breaks for lunch and a tea & cake mid-afternoon. End time: The class finishes around 4.30pm “Louise has a lovely style of teaching. I learnt a lot in a few hours and had great fun!”- Ellie “There was a lovely relaxed atmosphere and help was given kindly and professionally.” – Robin Health & Safety: This workshop involves the handling and soldering of metals. It requires the use of sharp tools, heat and chemicals. Noise levels may be high at times. Protective goggles and earplugs will be provided. What's included in the price?
Course Fee includes professional tuition, lunches & refreshments. An additional materials fee applies: Sterling silver sheet and wire are available to purchase on the day. The price will be determined by the size and number of items you choose to make. The materials fee is £10 per person (minimum) for up to 5g silver. This would make 1 standard ring or 2 narrow ones. Additional silver costs £2/gram. A tasty light lunch is included in the course fee. Let us know of any special dietary needs.
