Description
We are located at Globe Arts, in Holme Mills, Marsden, West Yorkshire. The small classes we offer at Earth Pig Pottery are very flexible and cater for beginners and intermediate throwers. The studio is well-equipped with six wheels, extruder and kiln. Due to the limited space we can accommodate no more than six students at one time. This gives plenty of time for one-to-one guided tuition. Currently we offer sessions on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (though sometimes the days will vary due to other commitments). Beginning throwers will focus on centring the clay and making a basic cylinder, expanding this to other forms based on this, if time allows. The object will be to make a pot that you want to keep. If you are only in Buxton for a visit you are still welcome to have a session purely for the experience itself, rather than keeping any pieces made. *Please note: we are unable to post pots out to you. If you wish to keep any, you would need to collect them at a later date after they've been biscuit fired in our kiln. This can take several days (sometimes longer!) as clay needs to dry completely before it can be fired. (We're sorry but due to space in the studio, we can only keep uncollected pots for three months). Many students choose to return for a further session to decorate/glaze their pots but this is entirely optional (please note that this would incur additional fees). Students can book sessions from one to three hours. Cost is £35 per person per hour. Please note that the Craft Courses booking robot will default to 11.00am start time. If you would like a different time please specify this in a message to us when you book. For your info: The studio is unheated & can be very cold so please wrap up, especially in the Winter months.
