Plate Turning on the Pole Lathe - with Yoav Elkayam
Description
One day plate turning on a pole lathe with Yoav Elkayam. An opportunity for both complete beginners and experienced turners to learn new skills and improve on existing ones. We'll be learning to use traditional hook tools on a foot powered lathe while making a plate (or two!) From some lovely quarter sawn blanks. We'll discuss sharpening, wood selection, form and many other relevant topics to this beautiful craft. Interested in improving your pole lathe turning, check out our cup turning course the next day! Bio: I've been a full time maker and tutor for the past ten years, as well as running the Woodland Makers workshop and co-running the Bowl Gathering. I have helped hundreds of people turn their first items on the pole lathe and always feel grateful for the opportunity to share space and skills with others. I'm passionate about pushing the boundaries of these simple tools and creating beautiful every day objects.
