Alice and Ruth are both upcycling enthusiasts, and will be running this introductory Furniture Upcycling course. They will share their expertise on painting and decorative techniques. You will learn about all aspects of upcycling, from sourcing furniture and materials through to the final finish, and become confident in how to transform a tired piece of furniture into something special. Bring a small piece of furniture with you, general rule is if you can carry it on public transport then it's about the right size. Any doubt about it's suitability to bring, send CraftCourses a pic that they can then forward to us. Bring something un painted - removing paint from a piece takes a while and you may not finish your project in the time allowed. If you're struggling to find something, you can also use one of our practice pieces we keep in stock at the workshop - again, let us know via the message the tutor button and we will set aside something suitable for you for a small additional charge. The Mill is an interesting heritage building to visit, home to lots of independent small businesses, including a cinema, craft ale bar, table tennis club and even indoor archery. The cost of your ticket supports our community work through Reet Good Wood Club and ReMade Wigan. Reet Good Wood Club is a space for adults to get creative, support one another before, through and after diagnosis. ReMade Wigan is a different kind of space for women who've experienced difficult times, where we provide free to access crafts and skills based learning opportunities in a women's only environment. ReMade Wigan is a registered charity, trading as ReMade Leigh and ReMade Women.
What's included in the price?
All materials will be provided and you will take home a sensational piece of furniture. Suitable for beginners. Snacks, cakes and drinks provided. Due to the nature of the workshop old clothes are advised, but aprons will be provided.
